I think he's on a 5-year contract. And £10M - they are more dilusional than I thought. On the other hand, we should count that with "The Goodison Park club will make an audacious £5m bid to sign Gerrard and Suarez from city rivals Liverpool."

Agreed. I don't understand how Baines' value ever seems to go above £10/12m. Given Carroll's fee perhaps value is related to height rather than ability.

EVERTON are ready to cash in on Leighton Baines this summer – with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger leading the race to sign him.

Baines, who signed a four-year deal at Goodison last summer, would fetch around £10million for David Moyes’ cash-strapped Merseysiders, and Arsene Wenger wants a left-back as he seeks to freshen up his demoralised Gunners squad.

Liverpool have expressed an interest in the England international, but 26-year-old Baines is a lifelong Evertonian who would not want to cross Stanley Park to the red side.

Baines would prefer to stay in the Premier League, and that will frustrate long-term suitors Bayern Munich.

Leighton Baines is wanted by Manchester City to resolve the problem left-back position. The Everton defender, named in the PFA Team of the year, still has four years left on his contract at Goodison Park. But City want 26 year old Baines to replace Aleksander Kolarov next season. City have spent big on the position in the past but have yet to get it right. Wayne Bridge was first through the door but he has been sent on laon for the rest of the season to West Ham. Serbian Kolarov, 25, came in for big money from Lazio last season but the £19m man has struggled at Eastlands. Arsenal are also in the hunt but will be put off by Everton's £15m price tag. Gael Clichy, also 25, has a year left on his contract so Gunners want a replacement.
