Fuck off Moyes you fucking cunt.
Basically, Leighton is gone. Once ManUre bid for you, you're gone.
Moyes has just made himself more hated than Rooney at Goodison. £12m my fucking arse. Bill should make a statement now saying that he won't even answer the fucking phone for less than a £25m bid.

At least 1) this is being done early in the summer and 2) the offer is so ludicrously low that it will be easy to turn down (even Baines must think it is a rather derisory amount).

No they just haven't mentioned Rooney the other way in part ex!

Maybe Baines didn't like working with Moyes?Armchair Evertonian wrote:At least 1) this is being done early in the summer and 2) the offer is so ludicrously low that it will be easy to turn down (even Baines must think it is a rather derisory amount).
"Everton defender Leighton Baines insists he is not interested in joining Manchester United, according to The Daily Mail.
The left-back is interested in working with Roberto Martinez, who has taken over at the club after leaving Wigan who were relegated from the Premier League.
The England defender has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, which would instantly reunite him with manager David Moyes, but Baines has said he is eager to work with Martinez at Everton."

As far as I know, Baines made the comments about wanting to work with Martinez before the Utd bid came in. Would be great if he did stay though.

He made the comments before Martinez got the job, he knows Martinez and likes him ,I think Baines is loyal to Everton & Martinez.

I read one quote from Baines where he said Martinez is more progressive than Moyes and will develop the play better
Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
Also, IF Baines were to move, I actually hope that Chelsea/Bayern Munchen/etc come in with an offer north of £20M which would make the Utd bid seem even more redicilous.Saccum Praestigiatorum wrote:sefton wrote:Armchair Evertonian wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:Maybe Baines didn't like working with Moyes?Armchair Evertonian wrote:At least 1) this is being done early in the summer and 2) the offer is so ludicrously low that it will be easy to turn down (even Baines must think it is a rather derisory amount).

Phil McCavity's take on it:
Phil McNulty, BBC SportFOOTBALL
Plenty of Everton fans are recalling then manager David Moyes's furious reaction to Manchester City's tactics when they signed Joleon Lescott as he now tries to take Leighton Baines from Goodison Park to Old Trafford.
Everton instantly rejected Manchester United's opening £12m bid for Baines - but you can be certain they will return swiftly with an improved offer.
Moyes is unlikely to want this to develop into a saga, and certainly not an acrimonious one that might damage the warmth and respect he was shown by Everton supporters after he announced he was ending his 11-year tenure to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at United.
It would be no surprise if Everton felt tempted to revisit Moyes' response to City's Lescott bids if the Baines situation is not resolved quickly.
Everton's response will be to table an improved contract offer to Baines. The more likely developing scenario is Everton owner Bill Kenwright having to show real resolve to ensure he gets the best price possible for the 28-year-old England defender

It's obviously possible, maybe even likely, that he's off. Especially at 28 he might be looking at winning some stuff and play in the CL, and one can't blame him for that.Armchair Evertonian wrote:Phil McCavity's take on it:Phil McNulty, BBC SportFOOTBALL

Having said that, I sure as hell hope that Kenwright plays a hard bargain here and gets us £20M, or more.
Chelsea/Man City, where is your bid?
Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
Baines didn't go to Bayern as his missus wasn't interested.
The word I heard (apparently through his brother) is that he won't look to move to Old Trafford UNLESS THE CLUB tell him they want (the money). So if Everton REALLY want to keep him he will stay (assuming that is that Moyes doesn't come back with a ridiculously good offer like £18-20M)

I wouldn't say that is great offer, given Glen Johnson cost £18m and Lescott £24m. Hopefully he does want to stay but I imagine the lure of Champions League footy will prove hard to resist.

Exactly. I really don't think that £18M is a ridiculously good offer either. We need to hold out for more, if he does go.Armchair Evertonian wrote:Toffee Dan wrote:Baines didn't go to Bayern as his missus wasn't interested.

And new Manchester United boss David Moyes will return to old club Everton with a £16m bid for left-back Leighton Baines, 28.

C'mon Moyes, you can do better than that.

it's not Moyes we have to worry about, it's our dickhead of a chairman...."£16m you say?........that sounds a lot!!!"

Still waiting for Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal etc to start showing an interest. Then the bidding war can begin.Armchair Evertonian wrote:And new Manchester United boss David Moyes will return to old club Everton with a £16m bid for left-back Leighton Baines, 28.

Bobby setting his stall out there. It's gonna take a lot to get Baines to turn down CL footie in the run up to a World Cup though. I'd be gutted if he left now, just as we seem to about to sign a striker with pace, strength, and finishing ability with both feet. If we add Honda and Kone to last season's first choice team, and play the sort of football Martinez likes to play, it could be a very exciting season indeed.

Probably the last thing he needs in a way! You saw what the temperatures and humidity was like out in Brazil during the Confed Cup. Players after a long season and European football looked really leggy. I think Baines has enough respect and profile now to be in a fair fight with Cole for left back. Dont think that would change it he was to go to Utd. Furthermore the left footed Distin right and left footed Pienaar ahead of him help compliment his game and form an excellent understanding to allow him bomb forward.

Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
It's all down to Baines and whether he wants to play in CL and win the PL or fight to get 6th/7th again. Hard choice
Maybe Moyes will refuse to pay more than £12m-15m for Baines, which I think we could comfortably turn down. No doubt he has other players in mind to fill the left back role that would cost less money and not turn Blues against him (Gibbs at Arse, Shaw at Southampton?).

I dont think Utd will pay that sort of dough though. Their since of entitlement will probably see them go no more then £15m. All depends on Baines though. Have this horrible feeling this could run up to deadline day with Utd pushing for a cheap deal.
