some things are best left unsaidGoodison_Gringo wrote:Super wrote:New Blue Ashley Williams has been speaking about being a boyhood Liverpool fan.
Shouldn’t stop him being a passionate Evertonian now - Leon Osman followed the Reds as a kid and so did Peter Reid among several others while Adam Lallana is the latest in a long list of young Blues who went on to become players at Anfield.
"I grew up as a Liverpool fan, up to when I was about 13 or 14. John Barnes was my idol, so it was unbelievable to meet him. But once you play in the Premier League, you don’t support anyone. Liverpool are Liverpool - just another rival. But as a kid, I don’t really regret it. I knew it would surface, some time."
Sell the dirty red shite.

It's fine, I just think we should boo him every time he touches the ball for the first season.
Re: Ashley Williams - Diet of Oatcakes and Pikelets
but then.....
said Jagielka.
"It is nice to have another voice out there. We are quite a quiet team.
"He captains his country, he captained his previous team so it is nice to have players on the pitch who aren't scared to help their team-mates out.
(Pretty much what we've all been thinking over the years. Too quiet, not enough passion being yelled around the pitch)

Anyone who saw the Ireland goal last night be very afraid if Williams starts on Saturday. He's a busted flush.
1. Mistimes an (admittedly poor) pass from goalkeeper.
2. Then just stops, failing to see any danger from Hendrick which allows the Irish player time and space to run down the line.
3. Even then, he still has time to block the cross but throws the leg out half heartedly.
Horror show.

Re: Ashley Williams - Diet of Oatcakes and Pikelets
Crazy couple weeks.. great to be back in a FA Wales shirt & with the lads, however after coming off after 20 mins with multiple breaks on two ribs, I went hospital & found out I had punctured my left lung which led to it collapsing.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Ronald Reagan UCLA hospital in Beverley Hills for looking after me and making sure surgery went as comfortable as possible. Look forward to flying home & resting up now before the new season!

Has joined Stoke on a season long loan. And that was his last year under contract with us anyway, so he's gone.

Re: Ashley Williams - Diet of Oatcakes and Pikelets
Wales captain Ashley Williams has announced his retirement from professional football.
Williams, 36, has been without a club since being released by Bristol City at the end of last season.
He won 86 caps for Wales, leading them to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
The former Swansea City and Everton centre-back announced his decision on social media, describing his career as an "incredible journey" having represented some "incredible teams".
Ashley Williams: Wales captain 'at peace' with whatever future holds
A late starter in professional football, Williams' career began at Stockport County before he joined Swansea on loan and helped them win promotion from League One to the Championship in 2008.
He then made a permanent move to the Welsh side for a then club-record fee of £400,000.

My memory of him is when he totally lost his sh!t behind the goal from a corner. And that he was powerful but rather slow, especially towards the end.
