I'd be gutted if we paid anywhere near that amount. £18 million maximium for me.

Everton hope to complete the £18m signing of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, 21, after 36-year-old Didier Drogba's return to Stamford Bridge. Daily Express
That price is better

A decent price for a decent striker with lots of promise. He's not the finished product by a long way so i'd be happy with the £18 million. The President wrote:Everton hope to complete the £18m signing of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, 21, after 36-year-old Didier Drogba's return to Stamford Bridge. There's a fan video up on Facebook of Roberto answering a fans question "Will we get Lukaku?" and he says "Of course we will". Make of it what you want!!

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Italian champions Juventus have also been linked with £20million bids for Lukaku. On Saturday, Sky Bet suspended betting on Lukaku's next club after a string of wagers were placed on Wolfsburg winning the race.

After all the talk within the club this weekend about signing Lukaku it will be seriously embarrassing if he ends up elsewhere!

Re: Romelu Lukaku - Chelsea's loss (for this season)
I think Lukaku is waiting until the last minute of the transfer window to see if a better offer comes up. If it doesn't he will probably end up trying to get a loan move to Everton again.
He's clearly ambitious and thinks he should be playing champions league football and he's probably right.
Wouldn't be surprised if liverpool signed him.

Martinez has waited patiently for to long, if he pulls out now people will question his judgement, If Lukaku goes elsewhere , people will question Lakaku
Early signs are already showing in pre-season, we desperately need a couple strikers.

Juventus will put in a transfer bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to strengthen their attack but the Italian club face competition from Real Madrid for the 21-year-old Belgian forward. AS.com (in Spanish)

Doesn't matter what language Martinez speaks, we will all have heard the excuses before.
Re: Romelu Lukaku - Chelsea's loss (for this season)
I'm certainly hoping there was a plan B. But we haven't actually been linked with any other strikers, have we?

We're still odds on fave to sign him. You can get 10/1 on him signing for Juve at the moment.

Just looking at the odds, the Shite are equal third favourites with Real Madrid to sign him.
Assuming the odds are accurate, and it is between us and Wolfsburg, the positive is that Wolfsburg can't offer him Champions League either.
