is he (finally) back?Dixie Land wrote:That bloke who set up our 2nd looked a bit like that Mikel Arteta that used to play for us.
I should state that he's not done much before that fantastic move.
Re: Everton 2 (Beckford 2) Sunderland 0
Saha twists and turns outside the box, it ends with him taking a shot but it's well wide.
Re: Everton 2 (Beckford 2) Sunderland 0
Saha really is a class act when he is confident and up for it!

Blackpool red card: The Seasiders' afternoon just got a whole lot worse. Their striker DJ Campbell reacts angrily when he is blocked by Wolves defender Richard Stearman and pushes him in the face. Silly, silly boy. Referee Neil Swarbrick shows him a straight red. Stearman was not completely innocent in that little exchange but, crucially, his shove on Campbell was in the chest.

And the first half is over, 2-0. We were a bit fortunate that Howard got his fingers on the shot that hit the botom of the crossbar. It could just as well have been 1-1 there.
A somewhat promising half. We have moved the ball around well at times, and have produced 2 goals off just a handful of proper chances - great to see us being clinical.

Great first half, we're well worth the 2 goal lead

Re: Everton 2 (Beckford 2) Sunderland 0
Happy with that at half time. Beckford can score goals but I think it is obvious that he needs somebody next to him, nothing wrong with that though. Saha has made a big difference today, I was worried that he would take a few weeks to get back in th swing of things but he has hit the ground running. A shame that Fellaini went off as he was breaking up their play very well but at least we have Rodwell to call on.
Great save by Howard that could be the real turning point.

HALF-TIME Everton 2-0 Sunderland
Jonathan Stevenson's HT snapshot: "It's the Jermaine Beckford show - question is, can the striker now grab his first hat-trick since Leeds thumped Yeovil 4-0 nearly two years ago?"
HALF-TIME Wolves 1-0 Blackpool
Owen Phillips' HT snapshot: "Wolves on top and creating chances against a ragged Blackpool but just the one goal to show for it and the visitors were still well in it until DJ Campbell's moment of stupidity earns him a red card. Now it looks a huge ask."
HALF-TIME Newcastle 1-1 Bolton
Mike Henson's HT snapshot: "Kevin Nolan's header against his old club appeared to have sapped the life out Bolton, but Daniel Sturridge's blistering goal-scoring form continues and this one is still very much in the balance."
HALF-TIME Wigan 0-1 Man Utd
Chris Whyatt's HT snapshot: "Did Vidic fly the 20 miles to Wigan? Superman denying the hosts with born-finisher Hernandez punishing them."
From anonymous Everton fan via text: "Really happy with Everton so far, the difference for me is that Moyes dropped the 4-5-1 and went with two strikers. Much more of a goal threat. Only problem is it gives him a selection headache with Arteta, Cahill and Coleman."

Beckford with a leftfooted shot from the edge of the box, over the bar with loads of pace. Osman the provider.
Re: Everton 2 (Beckford 2) Sunderland 0
Osman with a great chance from 10 yards out, but he shoots wide. That would have been game over if he had scored.
Re: Everton 2 (Beckford 2) Sunderland 0
What a break by us, but Beckford is offside. He does tend to go too early a lot.

Steve Bruce has never won at Goodison Park as a player or a manager.

First Saha shoots, good save and then Coleman gets the rebound and another good save. Corner. The corner is straight to the Sunderland goalie.
