BBC? Not a dicky bird from those Shytelovers. Goofy gets a couple of stud marks and LB gets a broken toe. No effing justice.
My guess is that Alcatraz will be drafted in, and LB needed a rest anyway.

The England left-back has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a broken bone in his right foot but the Toffees boss said the focus in that period will be on the defender's fitness and not his future.
why are we in no rush to tie him down into a longer term contract? Have we already agreed to sell him next season, and if so, as he'll only have 12 months on his contract, we'll only get buttons for him. Really don't understand these comments?Baines has just over 18 months remaining on his current deal but Martinez said they were in no rush to tie him down in the long term.
Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
I would take the statement with a pinch of salt, because it makes no sense. It's possible we reached a Suarez style agreement with Baines in the summer that he would stay another season and if we got top 4 he would sign a new contract, otherwise he could go to ManUre for £8m or £10m or whatever. The alternative was to sell him in August for maybe another £5-10m, which Manure didn't seem to want to pay. Martinez maybe convinced Bill to take the punt. Probably worth it for one more season of Baines?Sack the Juggler wrote:Don't know what to make of this

Given the great performances from Oviedo, should Leighton just go straight back into the first eleven ?toffee_pies wrote:Reportedly he could be back for the Swansea game.
I'm not sure really.....

I'm not sure he should either, but he will. I would be amazed if he's not in the starting 11 if fit.Made FooFoo Gwladys wrote:Given the great performances from Oviedo, should Leighton just go straight back into the first eleven ?toffee_pies wrote:Reportedly he could be back for the Swansea game.

Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
Be very harsh on Oviedo if Baines came straight back in. Probably put him on the bench and spring him if we chasing the game.

There are lots of games over the next few weeks in which he could be eased back in, I would have thought bench for next 2 games then bring him back v Southampton.

Perfect timing with Foofoo out really. I wouldn't be surprised to see Baines eased back in over Xmas and Oviedo pushed up onto the wing.

Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
he'll need game time to fully recover, so we can ease him in to some of the easier games
Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
"Easier" games have been our downfall though in the past. I really hope we can get three points when we are "supposed" to, like against Fulham, a game where we are times were under some pressure but won in the end.Sack the Juggler wrote:he'll need game time to fully recover, so we can ease him in to some of the easier games

Leighton Baines: Everton defender set to return from broken toe
Everton defender Leighton Baines is set to return from injury against Sunderland on Boxing Day, says Toffees manager Roberto Martinez.
Baines, 29, has been out of action for five weeks with a broken toe.
"Leighton Baines is getting really close and depending how today and tomorrow go, he should be available," said Martinez.
The England left-back was injured in Everton's 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Goodison Park on 23 November.
Replacement Bryan Oviedo has impressed in his absence as Everton have picked up 13 out of 15 points.
However, Martinez added: "Of course we have missed Leighton. You can't overestimate his quality, experience and know-how.
"We have had an incredible replacement in Bryan Oviedo. He has been terrific. But you want players in good moments of form to be available.
"We are desperate to have Leighton Baines back and desperate for Bryan to be in that moment of form. We need to make sure we use that well for the good of the squad."
Baines, who has played five times for England this season, was the subject of a £28m joint bid for him and Marouane Fellaini from Manchester United in the summer.
