18: Gareth Barry - loan or long term City freebie?
What's in a number? He gets Pip's old digits.
McCarthy gets power 16.
Very few players seem to like the 12 shirt. The old 1 sub number.

He did well for us, as I stated we needed a player like him to push for Europe this season
Re: 18: Gareth Barry - loan or long term City freebie?
Barry played very well yesterday , could prove to be one of the most important bit business by Martinez.
Barry maybe on loan but I expect he will want to stay at Goodison if Martinez can sort out his wages.

He's out of contract at the end of the season, so can't expect to be paid much as a 33 year oldsefton wrote:Barry played very well yesterday , could prove to be one of the most important bit business by Martinez.

Hopefully he'll enjoy the first team football and continue to play well. He knows he has an outside chance of the world cup if he has a good season.sefton wrote:Barry played very well yesterday , could prove to be one of the most important bit business by Martinez.

I think Berbatov's face is more an expression of 'that's wrong but I admire your technique'.Dixie Land wrote:Tonteau wrote:And Benteke's, but he's enjoying it less it would seem.Dixie Land wrote:He does appear to be tickling Daniel Sturidge's balls though.Helenqu wrote:Interesting to see he is one of the players in the BBC footie picture today.

Everton are planning to make Gareth Barry's loan deal permanent. The Manchester City midfielder, 32, has made a big impact at Goodison, where he is spending the season. Boss Roberto Martinez has already seen enough - on and off the pitch - to.want him for good. Everton cannot match his £120,000 a week pay but hope a hefty signing-on fee and bonuses will tempt Barry.

Re: 18: Gareth Barry - loan or long term City freebie?
Can't imagine us paying him any more than half his current salary, and why offer him any signing on fee? He's 32 and out of contract and couldn't get a game with city. He'd be lucky to get anything at his age so I hope all these rumours are just bollox, and we offer him a 12 month contract at £50k a week at most.
Re: 18: Gareth Barry - loan or long term City freebie?
At his age, he'll be happy to get a regular place in a top half side that would really appreciate them. Everton, in other words. I think he'll take half his current salary on a two year contract at the end of the season and thank Bill very much for it. And that would be a decent deal for the club too.
2 years at 60k, my final offer.

Re: 18: Gareth Barry - loan or long term City freebie?
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has again reiterated his wish to keep on-loan midfielder Gareth Barry at Goodison Park.
The 32-year-old has played a key role in the Toffees' campaign since arriving from Manchester City in September and has recently claimed he was hopeful of making the switch permanent.
And while talks are not expected to get underway before the end of the season, Martinez admits he would like to keep hold of the former England international.
He told the Daily Post: "We want to work with Gareth until he decides to call it a day.
"He's a great thing for our football club. The Evertonians took to him really well. He sets an incredible standard which is contagious and I am even more excited to see him develop even more in the second half of the season.
"Clearly we want to keep Gareth for as long as he can run really!"
Barry's relationship with midfield partner James McCarthy continues to be hugely influential in the Everton engine room, with Martinez' men firmly in the race for Champions League qualification.
And the Spaniard believes the former Aston Villa skippers' experience could prove vital for his side.
"He's an example for any youngster with his overall picture, but the way he performs on a weekly basis is a joy to see and a joy to be part of."

I'd be more than happy to take barry on a 2 year deal after this season is over. He needs to reduce his wages to fit in, but apart from that, I'm all for it.
