He should have simply read this site.Goodison_Gringo wrote:Barry Horne's Equaliser wrote:sefton wrote:You have to admire the pure cheek of Martinez,In saying ? I'm sure Mr Farhad Moshiri is willing to part with his millions(NOT) just to see Mr In-consistent Squander his money.
I think that's largely his problem. When things are going badly he just keeps doing the same thing in the hope that something will change.
Aside from the ability of the individual players, football is also a confidence game and occasionally a change in attitude is required to scrap out a few wins - it can get some confidence back in the squad and also build some team spirit which is clearly lacking (even if Baines has apologised for saying as much).
He seems so incapable of getting the players to roll up their sleeves and dig in, he discourages it in fact. The first season was great because there was no noticeable dip, but the last two have been really poor and that is largely down to his inability to halt a slide. He's demonstrated that he's not prepared to change his approach even when the results are screaming out for it, so it's time for him to go now.
Yes, he's a stubborn fuck. I presume it's an ego thing, rather than a lack of intelligence. Moyes was stubborn too but at least he learnt to adapt, albeit slowly. It's a shame, as if Martinez was prepared to listen to advice he could have been our best manager since the 80's.
We'd have rested Howard and had him return even better. We'd have nurtured Stones in a way that he didn't make stupid mistakes, even while expressing himself. We'd have kept Naismith. We'd have left Niasse in Russia. We'd have had Barkley playing like ZZ. We'd have played Coleman at City, and then dropped him after the last 2 games, when his defending cost us both goals. We'd have taken on a defensive coach, and practiced corners long before we started to.
We'd have been challenging the Foxes!!
Easy.

Hearing reports coming out of Liverpool from Ian Darke, strong rumours Everton lining up USA Manager Jurgen Klinsman to take over from Martinez, Martinez may get a stay of execution until end of season. Allegedly

It will be amazing. He'll teach our players how to dive properly. Think about all those lovely penalties.

Re: ROBERTO MARTINEZ - Meet the new boss (Same as the old boss?)
Martinez has refuted the idea that the relationship between himself and his players has broken down, insisting that "has never been an issue.
The former Wigan manager said, as quoted by Goal: "The manager needs to make the decisions, and the players need to enjoy their job and enjoy their talent and do the things that the team needs every individual to do in order to win.
"It just isn't the case that the relationship between the manager and players is a problem. That has never been an issue.
"Remember that we are not talking about a bad team here, or a team that doesn't perform. We are talking about a team that performs really well away from home, yet doesn't get the results at home. That doesn’t suggest the relationship between the manager and the players is wrong
Bobby bull-shit hitting back at reports he's lost the dressing room? Jeez this clown can't even admit he's in the wrong and there is a problem in the dressing room. Honesty not Martinez best trait. The former Wigan manager said, as quoted by Goal: "The manager needs to make the decisions, and the players need to enjoy their job and enjoy their talent and do the things that the team needs every individual to do in order to win.

I sincerely hope not. Klinsmann? No fucking thanks.

Too true. The Shite will have less penalties than us!Statman wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:I think that would be a reasonably satisfactory solution.sefton wrote:Hearing reports coming out of Liverpool from Ian Darke, strong rumours Everton lining up USA Manager Jurgen Klinsman to take over from Martinez, Martinez may get a stay of execution until end of season. Re: ROBERTO MARTINEZ - Meet the new boss (Same as the old boss?)
I think you are all being hard on Bobby. His tactical acumen has meant we have avoided relegation for three season in a row now. He's kept our little club in the Premier League with a squad of plucky but limited players and a shoe-string budget. His training regime has created a solid defence, disciplined at set pieces and mobile against counter-attacks, and a free-flowing attack. His ability to adapt his tactics and game plans during matches has resulted in us being able to resist comebacks when we go ahead in matches, and has ensured that our opponents are always kept guessing as to how we will play. He has been open and honest in his post-match interviews, giving critical responses when our performances have not been up to our usual standards. His record in the transfer market is exemplary, with players like Arouna Kone and Oumar Niasse brought in for small fees and having a major impact on our team.

Re: ROBERTO MARTINEZ - Meet the new boss (Same as the old boss?)
Martinez still wanking on about our home form in his press conference again, telling everyone we'd be top four if our home form reflected our away form. Yes, and we'd be below Villa if our away form reflected our home form, so fucking what?
Please Everton put us out of our misery and sack this total fucking bellwipe, I can't take any more.

Re: ROBERTO MARTINEZ - Meet the new boss (Same as the old boss?)
He's at it again at today's press conference.
No it isn't, Bobby fucking Bullshit. On away form alone we'd be in 7th place, one point ahead of Stoke, two points ahead of fucking Bournemouth you fucking clown. That's not CL form. It's not even Europa form.
Why don't the press pick him up on this utter shite?
It is quite a unique situation. It’s very rare to see a team so consistent away from home, it’s Champions League form away from home.

...the draw with Southampton guaranteed Everton will finish the season with the lowest points total at home since the introduction of three points for a win since 1981.

Spot-on piece on Toffeeweb, apart from the bit about hooves at the end which was a bit weird.

By the way, what do we think are the chances of him being sacked today? I think the majority of clubs probably would end it this morning, but that doesn't seem to be our style. Nevertheless, I wouldn't be completely surprised to see "rumours of an announcement" emerging in a couple of hours, followed by a statement at lunchtime.

We're too nice a club to sack him before the semi although I'm convinced we'd have a better chance of winning without him.
