Our best player by a mile this season, and deserves respect from the Everton fans.
Fully agree mate. One of the most underrated players in the Prem. I wouldnt be suprised if some other teams had him on their radar now. He would vastly improve Arsenal for example.
He looks a lot fitter now than when he joined. Bags of pace and a 'what's all the fuss about' attitude. Deserves another call up, but the problem with that is we are Everton, and players don't get the same limelight here as some other clubs. He is crucial to the 2nd half of our season. Heaven help us if he was injured.

I know it's for all ages and entrance levels of support, but I think our club have verged on 'cheesy' this season with these silly rallying call articles.
I'd be much more interested if the articles were none football related, such as brief biographies and out of hours interests.

Cheers Pablo for posting that interview.
I don't know if this is the "correct" thing to say, but I kind of like Lawro. He's very straight forward with his comments and not blinded by his past in comments in regards to LFC and EFC.

well if you want to work in the media you have to be that way, I dont like Lawro myself but not for any particular reason,I just find him an annoying twat. I think Alan Hansen is much better, I have always liked him on match of the day.

Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
Everton are ready to offer Sylvain Distin a new deal at the end of the season as a reward for his consistency. The French defender is entering the final 12 months of his current contract but manager David Moyes is keen to keep hold of the 33-year-old.
Distin, who cost Everton £5million when he moved from Portsmouth in August 2009, has played every minute of every game for his club this season. 'A new deal is something we will look at in the summer,' Moyes confirmed. 'Sylvain has played all the games, he trains all the time and that is a big thing. He has been an excellent signing.'

Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a double bid for Everton stars Jack Rodwell and Sylvain Distin in the summer transfer window as he looks to address two principle areas of concern for the title-chasing Gunners.
The move would plug two significant gaps in the north Londoners' line-up, where concerns persist about the reliability of their centre-backs and the form of their holding midfielders.
As a young and developing English talent, Rodwell, 19, certainly fits the bill for Wenger - although a price-tag in the region of £15million may prove a stumbling block. Nevertheless, Everton's mounting debts may see them forced into selling their starlet, who is also rumoured to be Manchester United's wanted list.
Meanwhile Wenger has been searching for a dependable centre-back with Premier League experience for some time. And although he continues to be linked with a bid for Bolton's Gary Cahill, it is thought the French tactician would instead be keen to add countryman Distin, 33, because he offers a different option to his current squad.
Sebastien Squillaci has been largely unimpressive since arriving from Sevilla in the summer - despite being expected to be the 'old head' in an otherwise inexperienced Arsenal defence. And while Thomas Vermaelen, Johan Djourou, and Laurent Koscielny all look very capable, question marks remain over their susceptibility to injury.
The former Manchester City and Portsmouth player's age could see him available for a bargain price - especially as Distin is out of contract in 18 months' time. However, Toffees manager David Moyes has said he is keen to open negotiations over a new deal with Distin when the season is over. 'It is something we will look at in the summer,' Moyes said. 'Sylvain has been great for us and the change after Joleon Lescott left has been relatively seamless. 'He's played all the games, trains all the time and that is a big thing. He takes a lot of pride in that and rightly so.'

Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
For some reason I thought he was 34, but the article says 33. Anyway, Weir did well for us into his 50's, so I'd say give Distin his 2 year extension. He's been great for us for.

Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
Distin is still one of the quickest players in our team so I see no reason not to give him another 2 years.
Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
Also been one of more consistent performs along with Jags and Baines over the last 2 seasons. That said he does rely heavily on his pace to get himself out of trouble so if his legs do go we are left with a player on good wages.Dixie Land wrote:Distin is still one of the quickest players in our team so I see no reason not to give him another 2 years.

He's been a brilliant signing for us and is still performing at a high level so it makes sense to renew his contract.

Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
Yeah, agree. He's clearly in good nick. Rarely (if ever) injured. You can see him playing at a good level for at least another 2 years.

I feel more confident with him there than Johnny anyway... and we cant afford a new centre half so it is a no brainer for me.

Re: 15: Sylvain Distin - Monster
says in The Times today, Distin is very close to signing a 1 year deal and finish his career at EFC.
Also said yesterday Moyes has rocketed Drenthe over his lack of defensive duties, apparently Osman also rocketed him during the game.
