When Moyes brought in Distin in the wake of Lescott's departure, I honestly thought that it was a short term measure, until we found a quality replacement. Don't forget Distin was playing for a poor Portsmouth side destined for relegation, I don't think he is in the same quality as other squad players at Everton IMO.

The catalogue of mistakes he made in the game yesterday, cost us dearly, and if Moyes continues to play him we will suffer. Moyes has to play Johnny H or even Hibbert along side Jags at CB and drop Distin even from the bench.

5 years ago Distin would have been our best defender without exception. Yesterday he had a nightmare, but that was his first mare of the season after being possibly our best player so far.

I still think Yobo is better, looks like Moyes has let him go for toher reasons if the Echo are right.

Baines.......Peanuts???

As much as I hate to say it I think Peanuts has been better and Baines always gives us an option.

Distin isnt awful but V the top 8 teams I think he will get shown up.

Evra was just as bad for Utd but didnt get the same criticism. Distins errors came in quick succession, Evra's were just as glaring throughout the game. The first goal, he tried to do as Distin did in the second by making an arse of trying to cut out the ball before it landed, letting Arteta clean through. He also let Ossie in behind him a few times. But agreed that Distin was poor. Time for Johnny to get back in there.

Where was Baines for all 3 of their goals? He is the right back after all, and it's no use going forward if you are going to leave your area wide open for the attacking team. It's easy to be hard on Distin, but many of our issues come from attacks on Baines' flank. Our defenders push up very high sometimes, yet it's the ones who maintain their positions that come under scrutiny. Shouldn't Heitinga have been holding the defensive line? He was a defensive midfielder after all, yet was high up the pitch many times. What about the 2 crosses in the box? Our defence was poor on both occasions, and then some, but these crosses should not be allowed to happen and our wing defence should be cutting them out.

After considering the whistle blow on the last kick of the game, it also struck me that Arteta played the total wrong option in feeding Jags rather than feeding Osman who had made the run. I feel Osman would have scored, where as Jags was unlikely to. Of course none of it is relevant though. cheers

It was a really good team performance in fairness but we just lack that cutting edge infront of goal at the moment. I thought that Pienaar, Arteta and Fellaini looked good in midfield and Cahill helped link up with the attack (even though he was obviously not fit). Yakubu is improving every week and Coleman looks like he could make a big difference this season. However, it is vitally important for the defence to play well as we could have well ended up with no points yet again after dominating a team (like we did against Villa). I thought that Distin was solid at the back and really helped us gain a point.

Onwards and upwards hopefully.

If a while back you had told me that Distin would of bossed a world class striker in Torres I would of told you where to go.

He's been very good this season. Lots of players did very well today, but I think for 7 of our 8 games Distin has earned his place.

Torres isn't world class at the minute but Distin did well.

The run at the end where he turned one player and beat another up the touchline was superb. Nervewrecking as feck, but still superb.

reminds me a bit of when Rhino used to go on a run, you could see at some point he'd just shit himself not knowing what to do anymore so just kept on running, no way anyone was stopping him without a hunting rifle. cheers

Fully agree mate. One of the most underrated players in the Prem. I wouldnt be suprised if some other teams had him on their radar now. He would vastly improve Arsenal for example.
