Ben Godfrey's £25m move to Everton from Norwich is money well spent, according to data analysts Carteret.
The London-based company advises some Premier League clubs on investment and transfer targets, and uses data from players' performances to work out how much a player is worth to an iindividual club.
They say Godfrey, 22, has an Intrinsic Value of £41.29m to Everton, so a big hike on their investment.

That's what the purchase was based on!Armchair wrote:Welcome! He's got enough tattoos so should fit in nicely.
I'm part of the older generation where tats are not as common, so I guess I don't quite "get it", but that's ok.

Newcastle set sights on Everton man Meanwhile, Howe wants Newcastle to pursue Everton centre-back Ben Godfrey later this year, according to a report. The Sunday Mirror claim Howe is a fan of Godfrey and was hoping a deal could be agreed during the winter window. That did not happen, with Frank Lampard eager to keep the English defender, but Howe remains keen. A major incentive may be the increase in wages. Godfrey currently earns £68,000 a week, and that could rise dramatically if he were to move to the north east.

Goodbye. Though, I think the problem we have is that we would be okay if just a few of our defenders were substandard but, right now, all of them are - so its a disaster zone. I'd possibly keep Godfrey and Mina if all the others went. The priority is to get rid of Keane, Mykolenko and Holgate, retire Seamus, sell Kenny to a lower league team, and send Branthwaite out on loan.
Re: 22 - Ben Godfrey - monster
Looks like he probably won't play again this season. On the bright side, Gomes is still injured too.
Re: 22 - Ben Godfrey - monster
Ben Godfrey fractured his fibula challenging Kai Havertz and Lampard said he will be out "for months" -

If Coady comes in, then I don't think Keane will get a look-in. Tarkowski and Coady are both fairly slow, so we need one fast centre back and that's Mina for ten minutes a season before he gets crocked, or Holgate.
Re: 22 - Ben Godfrey - monster
btw... I meant to say how good it was to see Ben back after such a bad injury.... played Haaland fucking well too !!!
Surely that 3 CB formation of Ben, Tarks & Coady will be the preference ??

In certain games, yeah. I like us playing 3 at the back because it sort of plays more to our strengths in terms of our personnal right now. But in games that we really have to win, I'm not sure about it. We're light on creativity as it is, so removing a forward in favour of an extra CB against, say, Forest, isn't what we need to be doing. If we still had Digne, then maybe.
Re: 22 - Ben Godfrey - monster
How about a BOGOF & throw Keane in too ..... or a straight swap for Richie
