Newcastle - The (not so) Mighty Toffees
So, Tuesday match day against the Barcodes.
They had a remarkable turnaround over the weekend coming back from 1-3 to West Ham 4-3, while we lost in rather spectacular fashion on the road against Bournmoulona (they ran circles around us like Barcelona in their hey-day at times).
What could possibly go wrong?
And up the fooking Toffees!

Re: Newcastle - The (not so) Mighty Toffees
The Barcodes are missing so many players that there might be rare starts for Malcolm MacDonald, Peter Beardsley, Gazza and Sting. So, on that basis, I predict they'll stutter to a 4-0 win over our sad bunch of fuck-ups and misfits.
Up the fucking useless toffees etc.

Wonder if we'll go five at the back with Young and Myko as wingbacks.

Duke close again. Great save from Pickford at the other end.

Re: Newcastle - The (not so) Mighty Toffees
The gulf is enormous. Izak makes Beto look like a squad player for the Dog and Duck.
Forest three up, Burnley winning, points deduction to come. We're so doomed its incredible. How the fuck will we even stay in the Championship once we sell Onana, Branthwaite and Pickford, and possibly start next season with a nine point deduction for going into administration?
Fuck my life.

Hold on! Have I mentioned how great VAR is!?!? No goal. Still 1-0.

FT. Not a great performance. Pickford is now our main playmaker as the midfield and defence pass back to him and he hoofs it long towards DCL or Beto. Still, a point more than I expected from the game.

Re: Newcastle - The (not so) Mighty Toffees
Only a point but that’s a huge psychological boost. We were awful for 60 mins but the subs changed the feel of the game. I thought we were probably fortunate to come away with a point, but if - and it’s a huge if - we can beat Burnley then the four points gained will probably offset our next points deduction
Re: Newcastle - The (not so) Mighty Toffees
I really had to force myself to watch that. If someone had offered me tickets to see Coldplay tonight instead, I might have been tempted.
Not going to bang on anymore about how bad we are, we all know it. It's a point, every little helps.
My main thought right now is that I'm pleased for DCL. He's well paid for what he does but what he has gone through still cannot be pleasant, and he seems like a nice fella. That penalty was very fucking saveable though. Luckily he got enough power into it. Fair play to him for taking it on.
It feels very pleasant to have taken four points off of those fat inbred waddling slabs of cholesterol in the same season. I hope Pickford did a lap of honour at the end.
