Everton will ask for £9m if they are to sell Brazil midfielder Bernard, 29.

He must be worth more than that, surely?

Yes, I think so.
But still, £9m would be a snip.

Re: Bernard - Right for Everton?
He was a free but him and his agent used that to get him a monster contract. Granted, he's not the first one to do that, so nothing new there. I believe he's one of the highest earnest at the club.Armchair wrote:Da Judge wrote:Armchair wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Everton will ask for £9m if they are to sell Brazil midfielder Bernard, 29.

Apparently we pay £545,000 per week for squad members who are not registered to play in EPL Squad. That is a sobering thought.

Everton's Brazilian winger Bernard could be set to leave, with interest from United Arab Emirates side Sharjah FC. There has been interest from clubs in Russia and Greece too.

Re: Bernard - Right for Everton?
Bernie off to UAE with a farewell that's full of..........
"Bernard made 73 Premier League appearances in three seasons, scoring five goals.
He thanked fans and "players who were with me", but said "you don't know half of what happens behind the scenes".
Last summer, Bernard said he had been seeing a psychologist for a year after an anxiety attack.
In a social media post, he added: "Since I arrived [at Everton] I was always well received and treated as if I was really a member of the family.
"Unfortunately you who support me, and not those who appear here to spread the words of hate, don't know half of what happens behind the scenes. I wanted to be more clear but unfortunately today I can't.
"The message I leave today is of gratitude and you will always be special. Everton is giant, has an incredible history and has the structure and capability to return to be and to conquer everything that it has been and conquered.
"I'm satisfied about how much I dedicated myself and did my best to be the best of me in all training and games."

Re: Bernard - Right for Everton?
I hope his career gets back on track. I was rather excited when he joined but unfortunately I don't think he quite managed to reach the heights we (all?) thought he would reach.

His farewell message is a bit concerning.Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:I hope his career gets back on track. I was rather excited when he joined but unfortunately I don't think he quite managed to reach the heights we (all?) thought he would reach.
This squad has rarely looked a happy bunch.
His memoirs may be revealing.

Me too and I wish him well. I thought he was a quality signing but he never quite did it for us.
Based on yank's post, there are some issues there more important than football and I hope he can sort things out.
Glad to have him off the payroll though!
Re: Bernard - Right for Everton?
yes, good luck to him... I was excited too when he joined but apart from a few moments of magic he never really stepped on, did he?
I hope his issues are sorted out (personally) & not embedded in the club

One of those players who has bags of talents but doesn't get enough goals or assists.

Yeah, I wish him the best too. On reflection, he wasn't really built for Premier League football. Perhaps he'll fair better in the Middle Earth, where the pitches are presumably a lot smaller.

Lol, he'll be a giant. Dominant in the air, the big number 9.
Re: Bernard - Right for Everton?
Now confirmed by the club
Bernard has completed a transfer to Sharjah FC in United Arab Emirates after three years with Everton.
The paperwork for the Brazilian forward was finalised on Saturday despite Sharjah announcing the transfer on Thursday.
Bernard moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer from Ukranian club Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2018.
He played 84 matches in all competitions for Everton – starting 49 times – and scored eight goals for the Club.
The 28-year-old, who has 14 caps for Brazil, began his career with Atletico Mineiro in his homeland.
Everton would like to thank Bernard for his service and everyone at the Club wishes him success for the future.
