Re: Everton vs Arsenal
Sky talking up Arsenal, like they weren't utter crap and handed a point by Everton.
Re: Everton vs Arsenal
…and why wasn't Besic one of the subs? Not only is he a defensive mid-fielder, but he has a great turn and can set up chances. McGeady was a fucking weird one, and Atsu even weirder.

We gave that to them but they were lucky. Despite what the pundits say, mertesacker never going to get that ball and I'm still to see an angle on nais that's level with the line if sight. That tithead Wilshire should have been sent off and there were numerous shitty fouls that arsenal players didn't get booked for. Just gutting to piss all our footy away in ten minutes but we had been dropping deep for too long before that.
Fuck's sake.
Re: Everton vs Arsenal
Distin and Jags flatter to deceive. They do some great stuff, but both those goals should have been prevented by decent central defending. Not good enough. We need to spend some money and be bold enough to drop one or both of them. But not for fucking Alcaraz.
Re: Everton vs Arsenal
Martinez kept going on about energy levels as if this was pre-season. Wasn't surprised by the lack of fitness to see the game out! He basically gambled on getting a third rather then try see it out with Besic over Atsu/McGeady. Very disappointing.

First time that Bobby has got it wrong with the subs in my opinion. And there surely is no excuse for low energy levels at this point? Arsenal kept going didn't they? I know we were working hard, but it's fucking August for fuck's sake, if they're knackered now what the fuck will they be like in February or May? Especially as they'll be playing two games a week this season.
I know it's a physically demanding profession, but they get paid a fortune. Almost all of them had the whole of June and July to recover, and surely they would keep the fitness levels incredibly high even during the off-season?
Bollocks to them, the overpaid fuckbags. I give up.
Re: Everton vs Arsenal
The first goal was f'n laughable. It went by 3-4 defenders before the tap in. It was a joke.hairberto cataract wrote:Distin and Jags flatter to deceive. Re: Everton vs Arsenal
redknapp going on about how Naismith's goal was offside and a foul by Lukaku but Giroud pulling Distins shirt to stop him getting to the ball first was clever!

Yeah, I saw that. Jokes innit?
Really fucked off by this result though. Arse were there to be beaten, we'd done the hard work. There's just no excuse for falling apart at the end like some bunch of semi-pros, or a lower league side hanging on in a cup game. Very, very poor. Bobby says we'll learn from it going forward, or some such management-speak, but let's wait and see if he's just mouthing platitudes. I expect us to give Chelsea a fucking roasting.
Re: Everton vs Arsenal
…and wtf did he mean by "September is the real start of the season for us?". What sort of talk is that?
Re: Everton vs Arsenal
I thought we were fucking great & easily deserved to win, despite Nais being offside... we should be sitting with 6 points now.
Gutted we haven't won again, but delighted with the way we are playing
I had a marvellous time in front of a load of Arse fans for 83 minutes.. they all considered their point a bit of let off for them

Those of you talking about the subs, just about everyone around me who saw Besic pre-season, said the same. When the left needed batonning down, McGeedy was not the answer. Besic was the man for that role. As soon as I saw McGeedy's number on the board I knew we would be in trouble.
Atsu would have made sense after that.
RM needs to level up the No Fear without going No Defense.

Once again fitness let us down, but, to be honest we never got going in second half, poor substitutions changed the game .
Martinez has got to sort out are defence , Jagielka looked poor, made many errors, Mirallas should have stayed on and Jagielka should have made way for stones , Lukaku was poor , His match fitness is still lacking we looked good in first half but struggle past 45 minutes , we made Arsenal look better than they were.

Are we really going to start with 3 draws again?

Re: Everton vs Arsenal
Early days and all that. I'm a little less pissed off than I was on Saturday. It is a long season and we will improve. I imagine the fitness/sharpness that Bobby was talking about is more mental than physical. We appear to have switched off in the second half in both games so far.
I'm sure things will get better but regardless, perhaps someone needs to point out to them, that (as far as I'm aware) points won for games at the beginning of the season carry the same value as those post September.

Re: Everton vs Arsenal
Good analysis by Carra on MNF there on Everton tactics and tiredness in last ten minutes of Arse game. He pin points an injury McCarthy picked up which reduced his mobility, energy to get around the pitch at end of game. Also the substitutions of Atsu and McGeady created the gaps for Arsenal to score their two goals from wide positions. Instead of defending the lead, Martinez decided to go for a third which as we know now failed and we coughed up 2 points. First half, we got everything right. Lukaku terrorized Arsenal, down the right, McCarthy drifted across to cover to fullback getting forward but second half, tiredness and a few tactical mistakes cost us big time. Hopefully, with the fitness improving we can play a bit more like the first half from now on.

Would have helped if they'd sent that twat wilshire off as well.

I would probably take that at this point. Chelsea look scary.
3 points from 3 this season would be much better than the 3 points from 3 last season given the difficulty factor (although we did beat Arsenal and Chelsea at Goodison last season).

Very frustrating to see the ref let Arsenal players off with so many early bad tackles , was even more frustrating to see Baines get booked for a 50/50 tackle,
his first offence.
