Another quiet day for Ross then!
Do you reckon that's really Ross? I'm not so sure.
Well both Merseyside police and Everton fc are carrying out an Investigation allegedly .
Or a Chelsea fan pretending to be a Liverpoo fan.

I wonder who it was. I wonder if any Liverpool players of old have previous for punching people in nightclubs?

There are times when you really do have to pick the right moment to talk about new contracts... just saying like!

I'm sure he's been well advised now.
Trouble is for EFC is, does the lad want to sign a new contract or has he been spooked?

Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
The topic of midfielder Ross Barkley took up much of the Everton news conference.
First up... the incident involving Barkley in a Liverpool bar last week.
Koeman said: "It's not what you want to read in the press about your players but it could happen to anyone.
"Wrong time, wrong place. It's no problem for me if you have good behaviour. He didn't drink. Maybe that's the reason I live outside town."
Then on Barkley's contract - the player has one year left on his deal:
"I'm not involved in negotiations but I know board is talking to his agent. Everton is the best place for him.
"I spoke to him recently and he mentioned Champions League. I told him I wanted it also.
"It is not necessary to speak about ambition. The club is going in right direction."

Is the CL really that big a deal to a player? I mean, chances are unless you are with Real or Barca or Bayern, you'll be lucky to make it out of the group stages anyway, so you'll be pitting your talents against the likes of Young Boys of Belfast, Atletico Benidorm, and possibly Benfica or someone like that. For me, when a player at a club like Everton starts talking about wanting to play in the CL, he's actually saying I want loads of money to sit on the bench at a more glamorous club.
Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
I think the appeal of the CL is massive and shouldn't be understated. Having said that, a larger pay check normally comes with CL footy because the "bigger" clubs can afford to pay more. I think that some players thus state "I want to play CL footy" (oh, and I can double my pay check at the same time - great).hairy cataract wrote:Armchair wrote:The topic of midfielder Ross Barkley took up much of the Everton news conference.

Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
I think Ross needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Unless he performs consistently, he won't be good enough for us, let alone a club in the CL.

He's been tapped-Up to leave Everton, my guess to Manchester United, should he go to Spurs ? Can't see them playing both Dele Alli /Barkley.

I can't see him getting regular football for any of the teams above us in the table. Luka wanting to leave I can understand, because he'll be a starter for all of them. But Barks? He's got a long way to go before he can start demanding champions league football.

Agreed. He still needs time to develop and gain more consistency. He would get hounded at a higher profile club if he continued to make the same mistakes in his decision making as he does at Everton. I love his positivity and willingness to run at people but he needs to know when to pop a simple pass and when to drive forward.

Deffo. Lukaku has made the step-up this season, his goal record is world class considering he's playing in the toughest league there is and for a team who aren't competing for the trophies. Barkley would be a squad player for any of the Sky clubs.

I feel sorry for Barkley. He's only a young lad and he is getting it from all angles at the moment. You would have to be very strong mentally not to be affected by it.
