Was probably brought on to shore up the midfield since we were under siege at times.Super wrote:Yeah, he certainly did a cracking job after coming on last night. When I saw that he was coming on for Saha, I thought it was a strange substitution to make, but IMWT.

He's well ahead of Gerrard at his age. In my my mind Rooney would have come on quicker under Moyes.

Rodwell
Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell is set to sign a new four-and-a-half-year deal with the Toffees, earning him £25,000 a week. The news will disappoint Manchester United and Chelsea, who have had their eyes on the 19-year-old.

Good news, so even if they come in for him, they'll have to cough up big bucks.
Someone is going to go for big money this summer, so that DM can pluck a couple of unknowns and turn them into world beaters....etc etc......

We have to keep this squad together. I think we are one quality striker away from being a top 4 team

Read the article in the paper and it seems more about him signing a new contract albeit he has 4 years left on his current one.
Comparisons to Rooney are unjustified as we are a totally different team and club since then.

Meanwhile...
Everton are also in talks about a three-match summer tour to Australia as they look to capitalise on Cahill’s superstar status in his homeland.
The proposed visit in July is only in the planning stages, with other destinations also being considered, but Robert Elstone, the Everton chief executive, has spoken with representatives of the Queensland Government and Brisbane Roar, the A-League team, with a view to the club taking part in the annual Roar Against Racism charity game.
The mooted date for the match is reported to be July 10, after which Everton would play games against Melbourne Heart and Sydney FC, the defending Australian champions, although Cahill’s involvement would hinge on how far Australia progress in the World Cup, the final of which takes place on July 11.
(So there goes our roaring start to 2010/11 when the whole team is knackered and jet-lagged)
