Everton vs Man United
No footy this week but a chance to get this thread up and running for a nice Sunday afternoon home game against Manchester United. United really aren't that great this season, however they still have 21 points and certainly have more than enough quality to look atrocious but still just about do enough to beat us. They've restored the much-maligned Maguire to their defence and just managed to sneak past Fulham away and Luton at home (can't sneer too much at that one, tbh) in their last two league fixtures either side of totally losing the plot against Copenhagen in europe.
The toffees are, deep breath, unbeaten in our last three league games and have won 6 of the last 9 in all competitions. Which feels extremely weird to type, to be perfectly honest. Hopefully this is the kind of game which will suit ourkick and rush counterattacking style and we can absorp a bit of united pressure and use the space they leave to hurt them. They'll have more players on international duty and hopefully be a bit more jetlagged and knackered. 2-1 to the sexy toffees.

I fancy us for this one, need to get Goodson like a bear pit, ideal time to play these is a cliche but, I do honestly believe we can get something out this game.
2-1 DCL and Doucoure UTFTs.

Re: Everton vs Man United
I would have said this was a nailed on nil points, but we seem to have found the secret to winning games without playing pretty football, so we might sneak this one. 1-0 either way, hopefully our way though.
Re: Everton vs Man United
I think we'll win this. I reckon the points malarkey will mean an extra special atmosphere.
Everton 6 ManUre 2. Norman Whiteside to bag them all.

Norman Whiteside.... Haven't heard that name in a while. He broke my heart in the 1985's FA Cup final.Goodison_Gringo wrote:I think we'll win this. I reckon the points malarkey will mean an extra special atmosphere.

....and a "welcoming" atmosphere for Glazer United.
The fans will take the 10 point deduction with style and grace.
I'm looking forward to some well crafted chants from Gladdy.

I think we can win this now... GP will be vocal as hell I'm sure... even more so now we have been unfairly shafted by the league tossers
..but ... in true bubbles clone reverse strategy I'm going for a 0-1 result to Manure.. Bobby Charlton with the goal.
COYB !!!!

Read the first line and I'm like "bubbles is PUMPED! YEAH, LET'S DO THiS. BLUES AGAINST THE FUCKING WORLD".
Only to be brought crashing down to earth by the second line. That was the messageboard equivalent of VAR, bubbles. Ecstacy followed by crushing disappointment.

Usually I'm desperate for a result regardless of how well we play. Today feels different - almost irrespective of the result, I'm looking for a performance that confirms that the points deduction has had a galvanising, not a demoralising, effect.
It's also been quite some time since I wished I was going to GP as much as today. The atmosphere could be quite something.

In off Maguire's arse, I really don't care. In fact of Maguire's arse would be fitting.
I anticipate no voice left for the Christmas carols.

We need something points-wise. Our run of fixtures up to Christmas is tough; difficult home games plus 6-pointers away.

Re: Everton vs Man United
Get the feeling we’ll dominate for a while then concede a cheap chance in the break.
Re: Everton vs Man United
We're the better team but missing too many chances. I can only assume the referree was a member of the 'independent commission'.

Re: Everton vs Man United
So many chances, but no goal for us, frustrating.
Utd's goal was a peach though, got to say.
