Doncaster Rovers v Everton
Doncaster Rovers v Everton at Keepmoat Stadium Wednesday 30th August 2023 at Doncaster.
EFL Caraboa league cup round two.
Everton play there first cup game the season against the lowest team in the four Divisions,
Doncaster are bottom of league two.
So Everton are live on SKY,Kick Off 20.00pm
Everton have finally signed a decent striker from Udinese in Beto, probably this fixture too soon for Beto.
Starts maybe for Dajuma -Youseff Chermitie Lewis Dobbin.Everton manager Sean Dyche needs to take these cup fixtures seriously so, hope he plays a strong team
Going 0-2 the toffees Dajuma and Dobbin on the score sheet. UTFTs.

[quote="Rotterdam 1985"]It's live on Sky?!!
Sky know what they're doing, don't they?
Of course they do, they expecting a major upset, can’t see it 0-2 UTFTs.

The worst part of watching Everton with my lad these days is the guilt that I feel.

There was a fairly long stoppage after the goal, but no matter. We are through. Phew.
Beto seems to have lots of the ‘raw materials’ to be a good striker for us.

Excellent debut from Beto.
There’s a few squad players showed their level tonight. We need some defenders into the side before the window closes.

What a mixed bag it was. Chermiti clearly isn't ready, although what the fuck he's supposed to do with aimless hoofs from the full backs for 45 minutes, God only knows. Dobbin too - he looks to me like the sort of player who is quite clever, but his technique isn't at the same level as his brain. It's a shame, some of his movement is great. Not sure if he'll ever be a player at this level or whether he just needs more time.
Keane was on his way to putting in the worst performance by an Everton CB since Glen Keeley, only for Godfrey to outdo him in the second half. Both absolutely shocking, it beggars belief that Keane was in the starting XI first two games. So yeah, we seriously need another CB in this week.
The subs made all the difference. Gueye and Young brought some calm and class to proceedings. Beto represents a little crumb of comfort, a bit of hope to cling on to. Garner, as ever, looks like a really good player in the making - if only he could be allowed to settle into one position. Not that we're ungrateful for his versatility.
And whisper it quietly, but Maupay looked serviceable playing off a proper striker. Yeah yeah, it was Doncaster, I know. Just saying.
Final comment - I've come round to the idea of selling Iwobi, as long as we can get a replacement in. But that was the sort of game, and performance, that was crying out for Iwobi, and his bravery on the ball, and his willingness to create something. Most of our players couldn't wait to get rid of the ball first half, which was as dire a 45 minutes from Everton as I can remember.

I’d actually forgotten what it felt like to see us score a goal. It’s exciting isn’t it?

And all it took was £30m and playing the worst team in league football!

Re: Doncaster Rovers v Everton
What happens Saturday then?
If the roles were reversed and Sheff United had won 0 and scored 0 we all know what would happen.

Lets hope for a Fulham level performance with Doncaster level finishing. But in reality just starting with a recognised striker would be nice.
