6 - James Tarkowski - leader

A couple of rumours today concerning James Tarkowski.....

What I like about this fella is that he hardly misses any games through injuries, and he's hard as nails. At 29 you'd expect to get two or three seasons out of him. No transfer fee, but high wages. Problem is he might ask for a four year contract, but by the end of it he'll be pushing 34.

It should smooth things over with Burnley at least.

He'd be a solid, unexciting, free transfer signing, which is exactly the kind of signing we need right now. Better than Keane, not as injury prone as Mina.

I'm OK with fairly high wages (cos he's on a free) and a 4 year contract (because centre backs can play into their late 30's.) Also Tarkowski, although not slow, isn't a speed merchant, so we don't have that loss of pace to worry about.

While I want our squad/team to be a bit younger and quicker, we should be all over any decent free transfer signings this summer. We won't have much money to spend.

Our immediate priority is simply to ensure that what happened this season doesn't happen again next season. This fella would make me feel a little bit more confident on that front.

If he fits within our FFP barriers we certainly need at least one CB... and he ain't bad

yeah, tend to agree... it was from a pretty solid EFC FB site though ... so I'll be surprised if it's not correct ... I'll also unfollow them !!!

Don't they usually have to wait two or three days for the club cameraman to sober up and get his arse into Finch Farm so that he can do one of those snazzy, on-the-move videos that they use to announce these things?

True. It's only a done deal once the unveiling video is posted on Twitter. That's why Peter Odemwingie didn't get his dream move to QPR or wherever it was all those years ago.

I think they're still waiting for Niasse to clear his locker before any new signings are announced.

I read a report from a (credible source ) that it is a done deal with everything cast in stone...

...however due to the 'sensitivity' between the 2 clubs over the relegation battle / FFP lawsuits et al ... it won't be announced until Tarkie's contract actually expires at the end of june.

Sounds realistic to me .... I'm very hopeful now & I must admit was getting worried over the silence on it all

The 29-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Goodison Park, which runs until the summer of 2026.
