Everton v Brentford
I'm on a match thread roll with 2 wins & a draw so getting the chat going early for the game that will hopefully see us safe.
I reckon a win will be enough to see us safe as I can't see Leeds winning BOTH their last 2 (or even a draw if Leeds lose to Brighton given the massive GD gap)
Leeds & Burnley both kick off before us on Sunday so we will know what we need to do by the time we start...
I'm going to this one thanks to Yankthattoffee securing me a ticket
If anyone else is going & fancies meeting up for a beer or two after the game we are planning to pop into the Winslow .. my mobile is xxx to find us, as it's bound to be jammed in there... especially if results do go our way.
Simply can't wait... it's been way too long a gap getting to GP for me with this damn pandemic.
2-0 win for me ... 25 yard header from Derek Mountfield and one from Ian Snodin in the 94th minute, as he abandons the OS microphone & runs 60 yards from the stand to nutmeg Eriksen before firing home.

Re: Everton v Brentford
Delph out. Shame, he's been really good on our little unbeaten streak. I guess Allan is pretty much like for like in some areas, but I think Delph knits the play together better.
I reckon we'll be defending deep again, keeping them out and going for one on the break. 1-0 to the Mighty Blues, a brilliant solo 100 yard run by Michael Kean ending with him rounding the goalie, going back and rounding him again, then sticking the ball in the back of the net with his left buttock.

Agreed, Allan really isn't much of a drop-off but he has a tendency to go walkies on occasion. Delph's positional discipline is a bit better. Delph has been integral to our recent improvement. Couldn't imagine myself saying that six months ago. Like Mina, Delph is too fragile to be counted on for a whole season but is very useful when all four of his limbs are actually functioning properly.
I'll be honest, I'm thinking more about the earlier Burnley and Leeds games than I am about Everton v Brentford. What a luxury it would be, what an opportunity, to go into our game knowing that a win, or even a draw, will be enough to keep us up. This time tomorrow it could all be over.
If it's not, then I have a nightmare Thursday night to look forward to, as I'm in Germany most of this week on a work trip, and am flying back on Thursday night, flight departs at 8.30pm UK time (half-time in the Palace game, and Burnley are also playing Thursday.)
If we score first and early, I can envisage a repeat of the cup game with the crowd carrying us to a handsome victory. If we don't score early then it could be an uncomfortable night, depending on how Burnley and Leeds do earlier on. I really like Brentford and their manager, they're to be respected. But our crowd, fucking hell, they've been immense in the last few games. I just hope they don't revert to nervous introversion if things start to get a bit scary. If you're going to the game then carry us home, boys.

Dammit. Still in our hands though - a win today and we're safe.

I'll take that Leeds result. It was a must win for them and they didn't, against a Brighton time with nothing to play for.

Re: Everton v Brentford
I know, but it's always harder to accept that result considering that Leeds scored in stoppage time. Oh well, we need to look at getting something from our matches anyway and not rely on other teams faltering.Armchair wrote:I'll take that Leeds result. We get a corner pretty early on, cleared and the Mykolenko with a volley. He doesn't quite connect like against Leicester.

Gordon gets us a freekick after some miscommunication between two Brentford players.
