Re: Tottenham 1 Everton 0
if we had a prolific goal scorer on the books we'd win most game by half time

It's a fine line alright. We could have been three up in the first fifteen minutes and then everyone would have been raving about us. That;s football.

Barkley really seems to have gone backwards. Can't see him making the WC playing like this.

Very even game. Bobby's subs didn't help.

I have to say, McGeady hasn't shown me anything to suggest he'll contribute anything to our team. Can't understand why a team oaid £9 million for him a few years ago.

I thought it was either going to be 0-0 or Spurs would win. We had possession again but never really threatened.

One moment of brilliance from a good striker, that's all it takes. We simple don't have that striker at the moment.
I think 6th is a fair reflection of where we are at the moment and, like I've said, I expect us to finish 7th with the squad we have and the money we have.
Our big hope is the FA Cup, we need to be directing all our attention towards winning that, while the other big clubs concentrate on the league and CL.

Might have been 1-0 up if Mirallas had passed. Greedy bastard.

No, he looks very average to me. I love Bobby so far, but his signings have been hit and miss at best. McCarthy the only decent biy so far.

Why is he ever allowed ref our games after that derby game. Any 50/50 went Spurs way. While we didn't test Spurs the refs performance made a difference in the game.
I think 4th place is gone now

Re: Tottenham 1 Everton 0
I kind of agree with that, but Osman could have had a hat-trick in the first half. Clearly a proper striker is missing at the moment.Dixie Land wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:And it's all over, 1-0. Could have gone either way really.

Agree, no way that he'll be going to Brazil based on his current form.hairberto cataract wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Barkley losing the ball several times here, needless.

Shite.
We could be 2 points off 7th place soon.
0-5 our last two away games against fellow placed clubs.
Shows where we are lacking.

To be honest, I don't think fourth has been plausible for a while. Now that the Shite have stopped under-performing, the money clubs will be the top 6 again. The difference in spending between us and them is ridiculous. Our main aim this season, and every season, should be a top 8 finish and a genuine tilt at one of the domestic cups.
Bring on a salary cap and a transfer fee cap and let's see what happens.

The referee may have contributed too our downfall but? playing with no out and out strikers doesn't help the team.

Yup, the result did ultimately depend on a shit ref, but we should have done enough to win it without relying on decisions. Not having a striker is a hinderance, but we didn't make many chances for a striker to put away did we? Although I suppose we might have made a few more if there was anyone to target in the box.
Re: Tottenham 1 Everton 0
There were times when, especially Baines, was trying to get a cross in but it was rather useless to even try with Dawson and Vertongen being about a foot taller than Naismith, no way he was going to win any headers.hairberto cataract wrote:sefton wrote:hairberto cataract wrote:Lumper wrote:hairberto cataract wrote:Ref is an utter cunt

Spurs played to their strength, defending tightly, letting us have the ball a lot but put pressure on us as soon as the ball got in the final third closing down pretty much everything. With the cross taken off the table, we became pretty one dimensional, making it even easier to defend.

Funny, that. Breaks his foot and struggles for form afterwards.
