The BBC report seems to suggest Tim was unlucky. Is that right? Were we robbed?

Not robbed but our 10 men were more than a match for their 11. It was a bad backpass by Ossie that caused the problem. Just a simple mistake. We deserved to win the game IMHO.

As defeats go I'd rather lose this than any of our previous ten games. And I'd rather have Tims red than, say, one for miralas against the shite. Worried that we don't have much pace if mirallas and deufoleu are both out injured though.

Anyway, come on citteh!!

Just watched the penalty given against Everton and the sending off of goal keeper Tim Howard. Slow motion replays did not show any conclusive evidence of contact with Ki. So stitched up by a dubious referees decision, forced to play 82 mins with 10 men and a goal down.

Even so, even with 10 players Everton had 55% of procession and 24 shots at goal to Sunderland's 8.

Most of our 24 shots were efforts from distance that went wide or over. I remember when we beat the Shite 3-0 all those years ago. The shooting stats were very similar, only in their favour. It doesn't really mean a lot if the chances aren't meaningful ones and yesterday they weren't really.

Ossie's miscontrol stitched us up more than any refereeing decision. I only watched it on a stream yesterday but there was definite, albeit minimal, contact for the penalty - Ki's leg does get clipped. Yes, it's soft and yes, he was probably looking for it, but Howard lunged at the ball and made it possible for that to happen - in many ways you are better off for your goalkeeper just to stay big in those circumstances and not make any dive whatsoever, even if that does limit the chance of saving the shot. Howard also made no complaint which is telling in itself.

Ah, the Tim Sherwood school of thought. I think the fact we played for the win with 10 men for 70 odd minutes speaks volumes for how we're playing at the moment. Shit happens, you get games like that, but how you respond is important. This hasn't destroyed our season, we're still in a great position and playing positive, exciting football.
