hairberto cataract wrote:Problem with giving the useless wanker another season is that we are squandering one of the strongest squads we've had since the mid 80s on a clown without a clue. Even allowing for the shit he's bought, we've still got some exceptional players, young and not so young.

Last season even a complete idiot like Bobby was able to get us into 5th. This season he's blown it. A decent manager would have had us in the CL places last season, and at least top 6 this season. Moyes would have for a start, like him or loathe him.

So while we're sitting on the fence with Bobby, a quality team is underperforming and will ultimately break up.  Another season of this wanker puts us back for a decade.

We all want to believe it, but ultimately the teams that finish top 4 are almost always those who have the highest wages and have spent the most money on players. It's easy to feel like we have a chance at champion's league but the simple fact is, we don't. The league is designed so rich teams with big squads can clean up and the rest of us are left hoping for a day in the sun like villa with the FA cup final and us in 2009.

Yes, I would agree, except for the fact we came close last season with the team Bobby inherited from Moyes, and not so long ago Moyes actually achieved a top four finish. And our current manager's job interview clincher was telling the Chairman that he would get him CL football.

Obviously we all now know that it was the delusional lying to the deluded but, nevertheless, I think we can expect more from our current squad than a slide down the table playing shit football, which is what we've been offered this season.

That's 10 years ago, Hairy. The football landscape has changed since then, Arsenal were still at Highbury and not spending big, Man City had no billions, even the RS were poor by comparison to the money they spend now. We essentially still have proportionally as little money as we did back then and most in and around our position have got proportionally more. We got into the champions league places in 04/05 because the RS screwed up, last season we had a chance because United had a bad year and Arsenal looked a bit weaker. But the more expensive RS squad was in the position to capitalise, and we fell short. Still, look at what that's done for them this season. Ultimately Europe harms your league form unless you have a very big squad or a team that works like dogs such as Atletico Madrid.
the Europa League has been a good laugh (although not as good as it used to be) but we've seen the real impact its had on our premier league performance this season.  Spuds had the same issue previously as did others who have flirted with relegation whilst playing in Europe.

Also our poor prem performance was compounded by a shit pre-season which led to a crap start - it was as if Bobby felt this management lark was easy after his first season here - he was beginning to believe his own bullshit.

So hopefully Bobby will have learned from this and we will have stonking hard pre-season where everyone gets match fit and raring to go and we will get off to a flier and not get caught.... and win the league... just thought I'd throw that in there as I reckon its up for grabs as other than Chelsea no-one else seems willing to go for it.

I think the Europa is just a convenient excuse for our dismal season. We played shit before Europa games, we played shit after Europa games, it made no difference. Our players looked confused, the manager had one system and every English team had sussed it out by the end of last season, and there was clearly discontent in the ranks. In my opinion the reason we've done well in the latter part of this season is not because we've been booted out of the Europa, but because once we were in a relegation battle, which we clearly were a month or two ago, Bobby finally abandoned his system and we started playing hoofball and scrapping for our lives. Again, this is only my opinion, but I think either senior players or members of the coaching staff had a word in Bobby's ear, cos suddenly we stopped tippy tapping and stopped losing games.

I reckon the worst thing that could happen is now, when there's fuck all to play for and we're winning a few games, everyone forgets just how terrible we've been the vast majority of the season, and Bobby starts to think he was right after all. If that fucking clown repeats the bollocks of last summer, swanning off when he should be here grafting, and we have a shit pre-season, the cunt should be out the door before the kids are back at school.

In my opinion, like Very Happy
I agree 100 per cent

only 6th?
You going easy on him?

Do you really believe Martinez will get the money ,to bring in the kind of players to challenge the top-four?
We need three players minimum , central defender - attacking midfielder general -decent striker ,maybe then we can set are heights higher.
Sadly I don't see us ever getting CL footy in the near future, with or without Bobby M, but maybe one of the KO cups.
As for the Europa, I prefer the conspiracy theory that the Europa was created to keep any challenge to the big names to a minimum.
Platini thinks, how can we keep the regular CL teams in the competition forever? OK, we create a second competition that will exhaust the likes of Spurs, EFC, Valencia, Savilla, etc.
The job is done. The status quo is maintained.

His reluctance around Christmas has cost us at least 3 places.

I think we should have finished higher than Southampton but after that there are some very good teams before getting to City/Chelsea.

We can never have a run like Christmas again, surely he has woken to that fact.

Martinez: The support in Singapore has been phenomenal NEW WORD?

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has praised the local Singapore fans and those that travelled to watch the team and says that what they have experienced so far has been phenomenal.

Martinez would like to win the Singapore trophy but warns it will be difficult because of the conditions that they are facing, especially the humidity.

“From the first second we landed in Singapore, it’s been terrific,” he told evertontv. “The support towards the team, towards the tournament, towards football in general has been phenomenal, especially from the youngest generations. There’s been a lot of screaming and a lot of people happy and it shows you how important football can be.

“It’s always good to perform well, it’s always good to win football games and pre-season is no different, especially when you’ve got a trophy. It brings you that extra little bit of meaning.

“They follow the games from afar here, now to be able to see their heroes who they see win games and score goals on the screen… you can see there’s a spark in their faces.”

“Even at this time of night (6pm local time) when the sun is not shining, the humidity makes things difficult from a physical point of view. Once you start sweating, your body loses a lot of liquids and it’s a very different to the way things are back home.

“We’ve been working towards this and it’s an extra challenge that we’ll face. But without a doubt it’s going to help towards our fitness for the start of the season.”

So if we have a fan base that is ''PHENOMENAL'' why are we not marketing the club here or anywhere else over-seas?
Are board need a kick up the arse.
