The lad is just coming out of rehab for his knee, so it's a bit of a gamble ?

"On 29 October, Naismith injured himself after attempting to tackle Aberdeen's Rob Milsom. A scan later confirmed that he had damaged his cruciate ligament and would be out of action for around nine months, thus ending his season."

If this gamble pays off as well as the Jelavic one we'll all be happy.

Happy with that.

We sent the Straq back so were a bit short upfront and Naismith fills that gap nicely. He could even signal Moyes switching to a 442 formation... or maybe not. Very Happy

Great news! I don't know much about him, but he's rated in Scotland and we get him on a free which is more or less how we have to conduct business to free up (limited) funds for additional players.

Very much a DM kind of player.
I hope he fits in well, scores a shed load of goals and assists, and keeps those knees intact.

So, DM, who do we sign next?

They cannot.... as they only forward the request to the Club... a club which no longer exists. I think once the liquidation has completed, and Green understands the nuances of TUPE (positive and negative) he will acquiesce. In the meantime Naismith has the court of the land(s) Scotland and England/Wales on his side so I expect he will continue to train

All in all, a disaster for Rangers, and a warning to the Blue Union boys.

Interesting that the vast majority of Rangers fans favour starting again in Division 3. Partly because they think it will damange the PL clubs who, they think, have fucked them over and shown no compassion, partly to fuck up the Sky deal, but mostly because they think it is the only way Rangers can hold its head high again. Take the punishment. Also so they can build slowly over a few seasons to become strong rather than be battling for survival from day 1. They reckon that it will also make a mockery of the whole structure of the league because Celtic are going to win everything unopposed for a few years, and several more clubs will struggle to survive without the money generated by Rangers games. The authorities really need to get a grip here.

This has got legs?...........

"Duff and Phelps, appointed by the Court of Session on February 14, have broken down all the "asset realisations", the majority of which relate to their sale of the Ibrox club to Sevco Scotland Limited.

Green's consortium paid for the club's employees to transfer to his company under TUPE regulations, which protects employees' terms and conditions of employment when a business is transferred from one owner to another.

However, on the advice of their union, PFA Scotland, numerous players have rejected the opportunity to transfer their contracts from Rangers to Sevco.

Green rejects the claim players are free agents and the former Sheffield United chief executive sent letters to clubs across the UK warning them that the players who objected to the switch to his new company were in breach of contract.

International clearance for the transfers of Steve Davis, Kyle Lafferty, Jamie Ness, Steven Whittaker and Steven Naismith has been put on hold as Green continues to dispute the players' status.

Adrian Hoggarth, the head of employment law at Prolegal, believes the deal struck may have been outside of the law.
"It is not legally possible for Rangers and Charles Green to buy and sell players as part of a business transfer," he said.

"Whether or not the players transferred in this case appears to depend on two things.

"Firstly, were they assigned to the business of the football club when it transferred? This is a matter of law and this has nothing to do with any money that may have changed hands.

"Secondly, were the players aware of the transfer at the time it took place? Case law suggests that if you know about a transfer before it happens and don't object to it, you lose the right to object once the business transfers. If not, you don't.

"To suggest otherwise would take away the right of an employee to object to being transferred, which is a right enshrined in law."

Newco Rangers Chief Executive Charles Green has been dealt a fresh blow in his battle to hold on to the the club's wantaway players as his purchase of their contracts has been deemed invalid, according to a legal expert on employment law.
