This has been a complete joke on Everton's part, Moyes has been coy all season which brings me to think kenwright and the Everton board knew what was going to happen.
As statman says ? to many coincidence's, SAF'S retirement -Rooney putting in a transfer request two weeks ago-Phil Neville quitting Everton. As much as we all wish David Moyes every success in his new job, Everton fans know that Kenwright and the board will take us right back the days before Moyes came ,all we have to look forward to is relegation -football mediocrity.
It will be interesting to see what players will jump ship in the summer and what funds if any the new manager gets.
Rumour has it that Everton academy Director Alan Irvine will be in-charge for Sundays game at Everton , so a farewell to the fans for all their support of David Moyes looks very unlikely.
Kenwright was very clear when he was interviewed last night that Moyes would be in charge on Saturday. I thought Kenwright looked very fed up last night. My hope is that as Kenwright appointed Moyes in the first place he can make another good appointment for us. Plus I'm sure Moyes has a good idea about an appropriate successor and I don't think he's the sort of guy to want to leave us without feeling his legacy is taken care of.
It feels like a bereavement this morning, horrible

I don't think David Moyes will have the same input at Everton in finding a successor the same way Sir Alex Ferguson has at United, Ferguson is still at United in a directors roll, Moyes as we all know is about to leave.I do not hold any grudge's against Moyes for leaving, he deserves a bigger stage, I just feel that this has been rushed through with out any concerns for Everton , the least United could have done was wait until Kenwright had found a successor to moyes before starting all this hysteria.
It does very much feel like a bereavement. the reason for that is the uncertainty about are future after by losing the one man that we believed would be at Everton for ever..
Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
This certainly an unusual play in the managerial musical chairs game.
How long is it since we have had changes due to retirement/resignation rather than sackings?
If this SAF/Moyes changeover has been considered for some time now,I only hope that our board have a useful replacement lined up.
On the other hand I am expecting the usual panic/chaos.
Moyes has reached his limit with the restricted funds available at EFC,best of the rest and all that no doubt. At OT he has the opportunity to prove what he can do with a few world class players on the books already and a substantial transfer fund available.
Good luck to Moysie, never won us anything but at least got us away from that annual relegation battle.

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
The true fact is that this is the first time an Everton Manager has ever resigned - to go somewhere else. We have quite rightly always been classed as a "Big Club" - but today our own fears are visceral. We realise that there is now an impossible gulf between haves and the nearly haves.... (and I suppose the "used to haves").
I would like to think that we can continue to be club we are; that we retain our dignity - our sense of who we are and that history and heritage whilst of little financial value - do continue to bestow the sense of "born not manufactured" upon the coming generations. Everton is precious to me, I cannot choose them not to be so... but whilst we might be a people's Club (a family as such) - they are not family in the truest sense. I hope that in the coming months we all retain a sense of perspective

This is interesting:
"Although no formal discussions have taken place yet, Lennon's body of work has impressed Bill Kenwright and the Goodison board sufficiently for his name to be placed on a provisional short list last month which also includes Martinez, Brighton's Gus Poyet, Cardiff manager Malky Mackay and internal candidates Phil Neville and David Weir. When you look at the candidates to succeed Moyes... people are finally realizing how lucky we were to have him.... we could end up in deep poo here.

Whilst the media are having a field day with Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement and David Moyes becoming his successor ,I feel very bitter to the fact that we as BIG CLUB have been disrespected, one national paper covers 12 pages on the story about SAF & Moyes , while a small paragraph with the headline WHAT NOW FOR THE TOFFEE'S ? as if they give a flying f*ck. total disrespect to are club . just hope Kenwright and the board pull out all the stops to get a strong minded manager who will carry on with the same work ethic as moyes and are board don't allow this kind of situation to happen again. Kenwright's soft touch with moyes has allowed are managers contract to whittle down and disappear with out any compensation. this would never happen in the days of Sir Phillip carter and Sir John Mores.we need a chairman and board that want to build a club for the future ,not a club that sells all its best talent and allows its manager to leave so easily.
Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
"just hope Kenwright and the board pull out all the stops to get a strong minded manager" - Will Bungling Bill want that though? HW will probably want a smiley yes man like Martinez.

But Moyes cannot become MU manager until after he resigns at GP,or works out his contract.
So, he's not really in a position to say anything,is he? he's still manager at EFC.

Is Kenwright strong enough to tell Moyes your still under contract? Media attention will force Moyes to leave for United before West Ham game.
Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
talks between united and everton still ongoing
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22453895
might carry on until tomorrow.
Not sure what there is to discuss though.
Either United are trying to get Moyes to reduce his salary (possible)
or Kenwright is palying hardball and saying that United have to wait until six weeks before they can appoint Moyes (less likely).
If I was Kenwright I would hold out for some compensation, even if its just £1m, because United are listed on the stock exchange and the longer the uncertainty drags on the worse the impact will be on their share price.

Just had a thought - do you think Kenwright is saying, ok Moyes can leave today, but only if you sign an agreement not to poach any of our players for at least 12 months?

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
Everton can confirm that David Moyes will leave the Club at the end of the season.
The Manager met Chairman Bill Kenwright early yesterday evening (Wednesday 8th May) and confirmed his desire to join Manchester United.
The Chairman, on behalf of the Club, would like to place on record his thanks to David for the massive contribution he has made to Everton since his arrival in March 2002. He has been an outstanding Manager.
During his tenure at Goodison Park, David has taken charge of the team on over 500 occasions including four European campaigns.
His final two games as Everton Manager will be the remaining Premier League matches against West Ham United and Chelsea.
Everton officials will start the search for a replacement manager immediately.

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
Must admit, I'm glad that he's seeing out his contract with us - shows class, cos I bet ManUre wanted him to at least be in the stands for their remaining fixture, or to go to meet the players (and try to persuade some of them to stay).
As it is, Rooney and a few others will be having a good old chat with their agents, and ManUre can't really do anything.

He should get a good send off from the majority of fans I would have thought. Be quite emotional for him too.
