You tend to think pretty negatively, though.
Re: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
I read that Arsenal are not too keen on spending close to £20M on a 29-year old, so he just might remain with us.Mr_Ben wrote:I'd be surprised if Jags is with EFC by 23.59.59 on 31 August 2011
Besides, I think they need to look at the midfield since they are about to lose two starters in Nasri and Fabregas.
Re: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
Does this mean Jags is safe
Arsenal will this week land Bolton defender Gary Cahill, despite the ill-feeling between the clubs over the potential transfer. The Gunners will go in with a fresh £12m bid, which could rise to around £15m over the course of a five-year contract.

I doubt they will buy two CBs so if they get Cahill, Jags is staying.
But paying £12m for a player who will be free next summer...

Re: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
The way Jags is playing at the moment, I would sell him. Totally at fault for the second penalty, try to turn inside for some reason giving the ball straight back to the Plastic covering fella.

Massive dive from Formica, though. No contact whatsoever with Jags and he just threw himself down.
His mistake against QPR was more worrying. But Again, left exposed by a poor midfield selection.

Phil Jagielka has stated he has no intention of joining Arsenal as he does not want to take a step down at this state of his career. NEWSSHITE

It's off The Inbetweeners movie.

Jagielka said his dancing goal celebration had been pre-planned with Tim Cahill before kick-off.
He said: “It’s The Inbetweeners. Me and Tim made a pact that if he scored, I’d back him up and if I scored, he said he’d back me up.
“I’m going to have to wait and see the video to see if he stuck to his word. If he hasn’t, he’s just made me look like a plonker.”

The defender has been playing with a hairline fracture of the toe in recent weeks and manager David Moyes explained:“We’ve told them he’s playing with an injection in his toe. “We’ve relayed it to the England medical team. "He’s not able to train so if he went with England he couldn’t take part. "He’s not taking the injection every day, just on game days to play. “But if England call him up they call him up.”

Re: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
A bit sad and negative from Jags
"We are a little low on confidence and morale is not quite there with the league position and the points we have got," said the centre-back, who has been named in the England squad for the forthcoming friendlies with Spain and Sweden.
"The strikers are low on confidence because they're not scoring much and the defenders aren't exactly buzzing because we're conceding one or two every game.
"The forwards need confidence in us keeping clean sheets as well, and it bounces off everyone.
"We've still got some good players. Maybe not with the confidence you'd need though.
"The manager's got a hard job to do now in terms of getting confidence and morale back up."
But while it may be Moyes' job to lift the spirit within the squad, Jagielka knows it is the players' responsibility to start getting results on the pitch.
"There's not much we can do about those games other than try and take some experience," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"It's a frustrating time from back to front but there's no point finger pointing, hopefully we can get out of it together.
"It is only us that can turn it round."
The international break may be a blessing in disguise for the beleaguered Everton players but when they return in just less than a fortnight's time they have an important spell ahead of them.
Wolves visit Goodison Park on November 19 but Arsenal are the only club currently inside the top seven whom they face until the trip to Manchester City on February 1.
But although their fixture difficulties have eased Jagielka insists they can take nothing for granted.
"It is a long season and hopefully we can pick ourselves up and look to the Wolves game and pick up some points," he told evertontv.
"I don't necessarily think it will get easier as I think there will be pressure on us now.
"In the games we have lost there was not that expectation on us to get points but - and rightly so - we will be expected to get points from our next four or five games and start climbing the table.
"This is where we need to put our foot down and start scoring goals and keeping clean sheets."

Re: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
Well, at least he is realistic. It's not like we can expect to just put the boots out there against these "lesser" teams and pick up 3 points. Needless to say, if we start scoring on a more regular basis, that would do wonders for the team since that will more than likely mean we'll pick up some wins at the same time.

Had it for weeks apparently been playing with pain killing injections, would explain his suspect form.

On a seperate note. When David Unsworth made his début, and only cap in 95 (i think). How good was Unsworth then ie would he get a game now for Everton?

Scored at both ends didn't he?
I'd swap Rhino for Heitinga for sure. Plus he'd be cover for Baines.

Re: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
Looks like Jags will probably start today in the friendly against Spain, even though Moyes has apparently requested that he doesn't because of his broken toe... cue out for 4 weeks after today's game when his toe get trod on

Woo hoo... Jags has aggravated his injury & Rodders can get injured tomorrow in meaningless 'look I give non-sky5 players a chance' friendlies.. perfectMr_Ben wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15709627.stm
