Re: Everton - Burnley
Still not watching a game live until we lose one. I decided this after the Leeds game - didn't see either of the first two games because of work. I know we'll lose the first game I watch live, and I'll be responsible for fucking our good start up. So I ain't watching one live until we've got the first loss out of the way. Which will be fucking February at this rate!
I stuck Sky on straight away after FT to see the goals though. 25 minutes and at least two long interviews later, they showed them. Worth the wait though.
Just after we scored the equaliser I popped round to the shop to get some coffee and milk. 1-1 when I went in. Came out and the fella on the radio was screaming 4-1 (the Doucoure disallowed goal.) Nice surprise all the same.
All we're doing at the moment is tucking into a friendly start to the season. The perspective here is that Liverpool battered Leeds when we were quite happy to go there and get a point. But given pre-season expectations, I'm loving this, and long may it continue.

I was thinking the same. Missed every game so far, but tuned in for 2nd half today and was berating myself after their goal. Turns out I'm a lucky charm. so only question now is whether to watch the full 90 or just the second half on Saturday.

Honestly, I piss myself when the missus sees a single magpie and can't rest until she sees another one. I've seen her nearly run over, walking into the road to avoid going under a ladder. But for some reason I consider myself and my actions responsible for Everton's fortunes. This is what 45+ years of following them does to you.
I've fucked up so many games in this way, by breaking superstitions. I long ago stopped laughing at oppo players or calling them crap during the game, or when they come on as subs etc, as they'll inevitably score against us. I involuntarily broke this vow a few years back to laugh at Divock Origi when he came on (because he's so unbelievably shite) and look what happened. That was my fault, nobody else's. My lad has never forgiven me to this day, and I shall carry that burden to my grave.

Last comment before I go to bed, after having watched the goals again...
The Demarai Gray goal. Great pass and great finish. But Richarlison is the unsung hero for his run that dragged the CB out left to give Gray all that space. The main camera angle doesn't pick his run up, you only see it from the camera behind the goal.
Richie's a laugh, he really is. He dives and he sulks and he tries to take pens from team-mates. He's basically a 12-year-old playing professional football. But my god he works his bollocks off, every game he plays. I know everyone knows that but it's worth saying again, because we've had our fair share of expensive shithouses in recent years who just couldn't be arsed to put the graft in. I love Richie.

Thanks mate, yeah I first spotted it via the normal TV replay, before I saw this Twitter post, which shows it in all its true glory.
Telly is never great for spotting really good movement off the ball. Andy Gray, for example, was always better watched live than on the telly. Thierry Henry also.
For all his flaws, we'll miss Richie when he's gone.
