I should be above Mr Ben. Or should I not even be mentioned - it's not that fascinating a row of 0s.

With last night's defeat, The President's run comes to an end. He has set an impressive marker for people to try and catch, roll on the next brave match thread starter.....

Is there no rule about people who have previously started a match thread and lost the match then they can't start a new thread when the opportunity arises?

Nope. Although common courtesy and etiquette would suggest that anyone who has started a thread during the season should allow ample opportunity for others to do so first.

I therefore ask The President to be brought in front of Da Judge to explain his reasoning in starting a second term of match thread starter. In what all i can see as blatant discourtesy, in the attempt to extend his lead at the top of the table.

Hmmm, my opinion is different. If I were defending Pres, I would point out that over 120 hours passed between the end of my mini-reign as starter of the match threads (following the Burnley debacle) and Pres picking up the baton and running with it on Thursday evening. My thoughts are, and this is the part that may be challenged, that five full days is more than enough opportunity for any would-be match thread starter to have started a new thread.
Pres, having seen that no-one was starting the thread, then started a new thread having consulted with the rules and establishing that he was behaving within the rules doing so. I think his behaviour has been morally and legally exemplary and had he not acted, there may have been no match thread at all*. For that we should be grateful.
* at least until KOT logged on at 1:25 on Sunday afternoon (minus time zone deductions) and posted comment after comment; a sort of KOTbot if you will.

Re: Match Thread league 2016-17 season
The previous El Supremo thought he could define the law and repeatedly came up short. There was a pre-match hearing and the case law clearly spelled out.Super wrote:Barry Horne's Equaliser wrote:Super wrote:Is there no rule about people who have previously started a match thread and lost the match then they can't start a new thread when the opportunity arises?

Now a frivolous appeal.... mmmmm.....

Re: Match Thread league 2016-17 season
The President's goal difference takes a battering, will that come back to haunt him later in the season if someone else can go on a decent run?
Mr Ben has stepped up to the plate to try and improve his negative score.

He may struggle with the thread titles, but can't argue with the fact that Sef is on a great run. Another victory will see him jump to second in the league and only 6pts behind The President.
