Lets hope so STJ, getting p*ssed off with the media trying to sell Our players after the transfer window shut, every day Romelu Lukaku or Ross Barkley being linked with a summer transfer away from Goodison is becoming tedious, now Ronald Koeman linked with the Barcelona Job because Barcelona's''Lois Enrique'' could lose his position as Manager. This must be unsettling for the club.

Long live the freedom of the press.... ! LOL!!!
The press I am reading is indicating the likely replacement for Luis Enrique (Lois is the unqualified sister!) is the guy that Seville bought in to replace Emery. Apparently Chelsea had him and Conte as the final two... and they went Conte as he had better English. I still think that leaves a question what are we doing in the way of successor planning.
Will Romelu play his entire career at Everton? Will Ross Barkley? Will Koeman move? All these can be answered in terms of likely risk (Impact and Likelihood) and we should be taking steps to have the answers available should the eventuality occur...

Ronald Koeman as the Manager, would be difficult to replace, David Unsworth would be a likely candidate but? With his experience or lack of It, would be to his disadvantage.
Problem with big name Managers you always know a bigger club will eventually come calling ,On that note, I would have a punt on Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.
Should Koeman go? I would guess Romelu Lukaku would leave as well, I would go for Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal and Edison Cavani at PSG, Cavani would be difficult to get Imagine...

We should expect the same decision making process when the last time a bigger club with a more storied history came asking for his services... we quite rightly hoped that he would make the right decision.... we need to expect that he might just make the same decision for the same solid reasons.....
We are Everton... we will survive regardless.....

Koeman Is not stupid, He left Southampton because they couldn't guarantee him they ''wouldn't'' sell his top players, not to mention they wouldn't finance transfers for the type players he wanted to bring In.
Koeman knows at Everton, he has the finances and support from major shareholder Farhad Moshiri to build a team to challenge the best, he will also be given the time to do so
At Barcelona he would be expected to bring success straight from the off, So the pressure of taking over Barcelona would prove to be Immense.
For me? Koeman Is not ready for Barcelona.
Re: Ronald Koeman - (cheated England out of 1994 world cup)
If they offer him the job, he's off. Who wouldn't be? But will they offer him the job? It's possible, more likely than Laudrup I'd say. He has strong connections to the club and he's got a fair amount of managerial experience now. Moshi won't be happy to see him go and will probably offer him loads of dosh to stay. Koeman clearly isn't averse to a big pay day, judging by how keen he was to jump from Soton to us, so that might be enough to keep him at Goodison.
I reckon he's got more of a chance than Klopp too on current showing.

If he goes he goes, we get the next manager in. Who's that guy in Seville?

Plenty of continental reporters on the various podcasts I listen to don't rate Koeman as realistic option at the moment. The only reason he is mentioned is of what he has done as a player in the past there rather then his managerial record. He's probably heading in the right direction but there are others ahead of him like Sampaoli.

Gary Neville???
Re: Ronald Koeman - (cheated England out of 1994 world cup)
If he offered it he'll go and who could blame him, but I'm pretty sure he won't be. Sampaoli seems to be the likely one. I guess the good thing here is that if Barcelona have a preferred option, they are almost definitely going to get him. Unlikely that they'll have to go down their list and end up with choice 3 or 4.
Also, I'd imagine Roy Hodgson would be second choice and he's out of work so no reason for him to say no.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman, 53, is the favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. Barcelona are also keen to bring Koeman to the club. (Sunday Mirror)

This could be interesting: "Bayer Leverkusen have sacked manager Roger Schmidt following Saturday's 6-2 defeat by Borussia Dortmund."
"Schmidt, 49, has been considered one of the Bundesliga's top managers, and is seen as a possible Arsenal boss when Arsene Wenger leaves."

Doubt it. Media creating headline out of a comment about his future ambition. He'll be here for as long as the project is going in right direction. A 3 year contract duration sounds about right. But he will have to do well at the club before Barca will look at him so good motivation to keep us looking upwards.

He's a mercenary. Nothing more. Once a bigger club come in, he'll be off. It's no surprise, he fucked over Southampton at the first opportunity. That's modern football for you. It's a game where the highest bidder wins.
I like Ron but IMO this is a bad move on his part. On one hand he's telling Lukaku and Barkley to sign their deals, on the other he's making a come and get me plea. He can't have it both ways and keep fans on side.
All I'll say is, with the coin Everton are paying managers these days, top
quality managers will be queuing up to replace him.

Lump, not quite true on the Koeman front. He left Saints because having delivered the performance he did he had been expecting to get a "merit" driven adjustment and the Board at Soton did not blink .... and we made an approach. I think he has every right to state his ambitions if he cares to do so. On current performance he is not the ideal replacement.... he needs to deliver with a club (hopefully us) and if he does won't we be at least happy with that?
If we have been successful and with a new ground a more competitive league who is to say he wouldn't consider staying.....

You say tomato. I say he saw the money and ran.
I do agree that there is a case to say that Everton is going in a similar direction as
Spurs at the moment, in terms of youth coming through, stadium in the
pipeline, decent sucess driven owner etc. and its an attractive project to be involved in but there's a maybe 1/2 clubs in the world bigger then Barcelona. Ron is a legend there and has an emotional connection to that club. He'd be gone in the morning. And best of luck to him. He owes us nothing.
It's also no coincidence that this story is coming out about 24 hours after the Spanish press had said that Barca weren't interested due to a buy out clause of £6m in his contract.
Again, IMO someone is trying to engineer a move.

That's rather scary. Also worrying that he had allegedly lost the dressing room at Valencia. And we are clearly not a team who appear to have fun together. Is that down to Koeman? Maybe he's not what we needed after all...sefton wrote:https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2008/apr/21/europeanfootball.sport
