Chris Long (2014 surprise player?)
Robbie has a lot of good words to say about this lad... Played well against Paderborn apparently & scored this little beauty
Is he our new senior striker ?

Except in slow motion… my nan could have saved that.

I thought exactly the same, hairy's nan could have laid her knitting on that, and the goalie is only 4' 6"hairberto cataract wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Looks more like he learned it from Eto'o.hairberto cataract wrote:Tonteau wrote:https://vine.co/v/OM1lBYaLHAI

Think you're both underestimating the level of bend on that. The keeper looks like he thinks it's going out before realising the curl is bringing it back in. It pretty much goes in off the post, too. Lovely technique. Did similar against paderborn in pre season.
Re: Chris Long (2014 surprise player?)
not at all misunderestimating it, there is a lot of bend on it, but he's passed it in, we've all done that, we used to practice it in the park when we were kids, long before beckham did it (and before he was born in my case), goalies for jumpers and all thatTonteau wrote:Sack the Juggler wrote:I thought exactly the same, hairy's nan could have laid her knitting on that, and the goalie is only 4' 6"hairberto cataract wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Looks more like he learned it from Eto'o.hairberto cataract wrote:Tonteau wrote:https://vine.co/v/OM1lBYaLHAI

Anyway, a prem goalie would have that easy, and a prem defence wouldn't have given him the space, not saying it didn't look nice, it did, but he's playing against kids, in the prem he would have so many touches to set it up and he'll have to hit it a lot harder, and still get the same bend on it, and he knows all that too.
He knows the prem will be a big step up for him, and I'm sure he'll respond when he gets his chance.... Hang on, where was I again? Oh yeah that beckham, she loves it up the arse she does, dirty cow

The fact of the matter is ? Chris Long knows were the goal is irrespective of a soft touch goal or Hairy's granny could have saved it , he'll score more than Kone. As for giving the lad a chance, keep him on the bench and bring him on in games we are comfortably in charge of 2/3 up..
Re: Chris Long (2014 surprise player?)
We'll see. Like Sacko says, that wouldn't happen in the PL, so there's no point looking at a goal like that and thinking he;s ready to step up. The coaching staff will be seeing what he's doing day in day out, when he's training with the big boys, and if he was amazing he'd be getting a game, whatever his age. Hopefully he'll be able to step up, but I'm not going to start getting excited based on him passing it round a midget goalie in an under-14 ladies game.SEFTON wrote:Sack the Juggler wrote:not at all misunderestimating it, there is a lot of bend on it, but he's passed it in, we've all done that, we used to practice it in the park when we were kids, long before beckham did it (and before he was born in my case), goalies for jumpers and all thatTonteau wrote:Sack the Juggler wrote:I thought exactly the same, hairy's nan could have laid her knitting on that, and the goalie is only 4' 6"hairberto cataract wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Looks more like he learned it from Eto'o.hairberto cataract wrote:Tonteau wrote:https://vine.co/v/OM1lBYaLHAI

Well excuse me for enjoying a nice goal from one of our youth teamers. I bet you he does score one in the premier league. I bet you he scores 50 of the fuckers in one season and I'll be back on here to proclaim myself a football genius.

Re: Chris Long (2014 surprise player?)
Striker Chris Long has today moved to Brentford on a one-month loan.
The young forward is available to Mark Warburton's side with immediate effect and could make his debut at Norwich City on Saturday.
After finishing second in League One last term, Brentford are currently fifth in the Championship and in the hunt for back-to-back promotions.
Long's switch will see him reunited with former Everton Under-21s coach and now Bees assistant boss David Weir, while former Blues defender Jake Bidwell is also on the books at Griffin Park. The deal lasts until 21 February and he will be eligible for Brentford's game that weekend.
A regular for Everton's development squad this season, Long netted in the first-team's pre-season friendly at German side SC Paderborn in the summer and was handed his senior debut as a substitute in last month's Europa League clash with FC Krasnodar.
It will be his second Football League loan spell after he played four games in League One for MK Dons last season, scoring once.
As well as Saturday's trip to Carrow Road, Long will be available for games against Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Watford and Charlton Athletic.
