Re: 16: Jermaine Beckford - Fox in the Box
Keep him for his goals against the shite, Bolton, Blackpool and Chelsea alone.
Re: 16: Jermaine Beckford - Fox in the Box
A bid was accepted from West Ham, Beckford turned the move down.

Re: 16: Jermaine Beckford - Fox in the Box
Beckford might have the first touch of a three legged elephant on acid, but he scores goals, which is a department we are reall short of, so I would be surprised if we were considering selling him.
On the other hand he also seems to have the personality of a three legged elephant of acid, which can cause disharmony in the dressing room, so maybe Moyes has had enough of him and wants rid.
I think that for Everton the team spirit is one of the key factors in our performance, if anyone is affecting that then I would understand why Moyes would want rid.
It might cost us more to recruit a suitable replacement, but sometimes that it a price worth paying - maybe we already have that belgium lad lined up and just need the £3m to pay for him?

according to Sky
David Moyes is thought to be willing to sell Beckford for the right price as he looks to raise funds for his own transfer plans.
If (big if) that's true, it looks like Moyes only wants to keep Saha and Vic of our strikers. Oh, and Vellios. Yak and Beckford would only raise about £6-10m between them and what could we buy with that? Beckford's wages probably aren't massive, though Yak's may well be at the high end. I don't really get it. Saha is totally unreliable, Veillios is untested, and Vic hasn't scored since Jesus was a lad.
Re: 16: Jermaine Beckford - Fox in the Box
I can't see Moyes getting rid of his top goal scorer, especially after all the effort he has given to ease Beckford into EPL football.
If anyone he should move Vic on, as he doesn't score.

Re: 16: Jermaine Beckford - Fox in the Box
Getting rid of Vic would be a blessing. If it weren't for Vaughan's injuries, I would much rather have kept Vaughan. But I suspect that there were few interested in signing Vic...SouthernSmugToffee wrote:I can't see Moyes getting rid of his top goal scorer, especially after all the effort he has given to ease Beckford into EPL football.

I wonder what would cause the word 'DEAL' to be said, £4m

I think I'd keep him at £4m, probably even £5m or £6m. He is now a proven PL scorer and we would spend whatever recieve on a replacement.

4.5m was good money for Beckford considering we got him for free. Would have liked to have seen what he'd have done with another season.
His goal against Chelsea is up there with the best goals I've ever seen scored for Everton.

I thought the lad did fairly well here. Clearly some holes in his game, but I thought he was at least Championship level +Super wrote:Joined Preston on loan apparently. Welcome back to League One football.
Some memorable goals among his few. The one at the end of the season against Chelsea, was one of the best individual goals I can remember.
Any other time of the season and it would have been on MOTD's repeats each week, or if it were a Messi, United or Shyte player, it would be shown over and over again.
More power to the lad.

I think Moyes cleverly cashed in on him. We got GBP4.5M.
