Everton v Palace
I have a sneaky feeling Gomes might start, and may even score. Direct from a freekick perhaps?

Good call. Saw the goal, nice. Our first goal direct from a free kick since 2019 (Digne).

Well, you say that...and sorry to to be the one to piss on our collective chips after a good cup win, but watch that goal again.
Further to Hairy's theory that DCL just isn't very good...why is he not following up after that free kick, to mop up any rebounds? Onana does. Three defenders follow the ball. Why doesn't he?
Hairy could be right. Maybe DCL just isn't all that, as a striker.

He knew that the ball was going to end up in the back of the net, so thought no point in following up.

Lol. Yeah he had to do a double-take though, just to make sure.
Re: Everton v Palace
This was a poor game though. Bloody cold, and the club hadn't bothered to grit the roads around the ground. Can we afford a few bags of salt>
Lacking in the number 10 role. The Duke is the only effective player in that slot.
It looks like Dyche has taught them all, part 1-3 of the playbook, but part 4 which relates to the final 30 yards and the art of tacky tacky, hasn't been covered yet.
DCL looks careless and generally fed up.
Virginia was exceptional, and he catches the ball. Theory: Pickford has very small hands and wears huge gloves which make him unable to hold the ball.
Harrison has entered the player- who-drives-me-nuts-the-most.
Gomes, best come back since Seamus, but lacks the speed necessary for the high press.
Our midfield, unlike our CDs, don't win very many 50/50 balls. Not a crunching tackle in any of them.
But hey ho, we're through to the next round, and a day of booing Barklay from the Gladdy end.
