The U-21s are playing Tranmere at the same time, and Dyche is at that game by all accounts.

Holgate plus a bunch of kids in the U-21 side. Both games 0-0 at the mo.

I've watched ten minutes of this and I really wish I hadn't.  Maupay up front, and nobody I've heard of on the bench.

Fucking depressing.  I know it's only pre-season, but is this the best we can do? The 46 year old Ashley Young is our best player.

Wigan look good though.

Quite a few lads missing from both squads for whatever reasons. DCL, Onana, Cannon, Branthwaite, Garner. We're loaded, hairy, stop fretting.

Finishes 1-0 to the Mighty Blues! Top of the league!

Debut goal for Ashley Young. Wouldn't be surprised if he outscores Harry Kane and Mo Salah this season.

WOOOOOO!!!!

joking aside... scraping a 1-0 against a league 1 team with a playing outfit that matches what we were putting out last season.. apart from one player (Young) is pretty worrying.

DCL still broken presumably... will he ever be fit ?

They've only been back training for a week mate. I don't know about you, but when I go back to work after a holiday I don't actually function for a good four or five days.

Also it's quite likely that Dyche has bleep-tested the absolute shite out of them, wouldn't be surprised if they haven't seen an actual football at Finch Farm since they got back.

I'm relaxed. All we need is seven new signings and then 15th place WILL be ours.

A little aside regarding DCL - we had a "friendly" office cricket match on Thursday evening to celebrate South Asian month or whatever event it was that my company is supporting. It was a good laugh, involving experienced players and absolute beginners, and they put on a spread of Asian food afterwards that was outstanding. Anyway, we had to bat in pairs and I batted for two overs with my German manager, which was hilarious (I think he thought it was like baseball - if you hit the ball you have to run - so he ran me out twice by about half the length of the pitch) and I bowled one over (eight balls including the two wides I sent down - in fairness it's the first over I've bowled in well over a decade). I also had to casually trot a few yards on a few occasions to field the ball.

Well...I woke up the following day with three separate aches/injuries, in my shoulder, neck and lower back. And I thought of DCL.
