Assuming our glass striker is finally fit enough to play 30 minutes after the international break.....

...would you start with Simms instead of him, after his goal v Chavs ??????

I'd stick with Gray, with Simms next in line to come on as a sub.

Great result! I watched the game on the local TV here in Colorado; Mexican channel though so can't say I understood anything the commentators were saying.

Anyway, I felt like we could have nicked the game. Yes, Chelsea had more of the possession but I felt we stood tall throughout the game.

It was interesting to see how we at times hunted in packs to close down the player with the ball. It was like the 70's Dutch team.

The players showed great resilience considering that we went behind twice yet managed a point.

James was definitely looking for the penalty, and he was already halfway down by the time Tarky got to him. But of course they got the call.

Overall though - an encouraging performance!

it's a tough call....

1. Simms who scored last game and is a striker ?
2. Gray who has been quite good up there, but is not a striker ?
3. the glass man for 20 minutes ?

1 vote for Gray by Armchair
1 vote for Simms by M4G

anymore ??? ... or shall I issue a poll Very Happy

Start with Simms. He is a Dyche player. Saw something in the press that Simms knocked on Dyche’s door and asked question what do I need to be doing? Dyche said why do you think you are not playing? Simms then listed 4 things he needed to continue to work on and Dyche agreed. Simms apparently has been working on them … one of which Dyche commented that he does not like physicality but he is improving

I like the look of Simms he does have a presence and I have a sense he will be OK - if we can be patient.

DCL should be a substitute for the remainder of the campaign.

I have lost count of the number of times I've watched the Simms goal. It's easily over 50.

My wife thinks I'm irredeemably pathetic. "You're 53 for God's sake." She just walked in on me sarcastically reciting part of the commentary she's now memorised.

She doesn't understand, of course. But then I don't understand her emotional investment in Strictly. So it evens out in the end.

I’m giving Doucoure a lot of credit for the pass to simms. To roll a first time volleyed pass straight into his path is great football. Obviously Simms made a lot of it but the pass is what turned the defence and gave them a bit less time to adjust.

Well I have to explain to my wife why the cushion needs to stay in my lap!!! (I am exaggerating).

Those who know me on here will understand that when I say I had a proper skinful yesterday - St paddy’s weekend and the Grand Slam plus when I got home around 0345 having supped the first pint at 11:05 to see the result will know that this day has been a slow burn day. Fantastic result yesterday…

Tunnel access, On The Road version.

Anyone see the stupid face that Havertz pulled at Pickford when he scored his pen? Well this shows a little bit of first half chat between the two of them.

Poor Kai, he's still very upset at having been pyschologically fucked over by Mina last season.

Agreed. I love Duke at the moment. He's playing well and has a clearly-defined role in Dyche's system. He's always smiling - I like to see that in Everton players, who so often look like they don't carry that "big club expectation" too easily when we're struggling. And also, he does seem to give a fuck. Little things, like often being the first player to reach the goalscorer for the celebration. I wonder if I overplay that kind of thing sometimes, but he strikes me as (to use a US sports phrase) a great locker room guy. And all of these little positive factors can add up to something bigger.

Simms' goal - I like the little 1-2 punch where he controls it with his left and then immediately knocks it with his right as he accelerates past Koulibaly. A goal that gets a little bit better every time I see it.

Ireland's U-20s won their own Grand Slam as well. They've got rugby nailed right now.
