It's important not to get carrried away, but I'm fully expecting a late surge into the top 4.

Re: Arsenal v Everton
I'll say it quietly... but McNeil played well I thought

A performance to be proud of.
The whole back four was great, Iwobi a constant threat, McNeil worked his tits off, Gueye and Duke did their jobs, Onana excellent as ever.
It's only one game and we have to be as committed as that on a consistent basis. But we have hope.

And to fans of every other club who have been laughing at our dysfunction and humiliation over recent weeks - I get it, I understand, I'd be doing the same to you if it were you in this position. But fuck you anyway.

Tonteau wrote:For some reason (possibly the one that perpetually stops me giving up on Everton) I have a glimmer of hope we can get something from the game. Back 8 doing their jobs manfully and Gray/Iwobi dangerous on the counter. Onana bossing Oedegaard and someone like Coady bundling in a corner on 70 minutes then backs to the wall.
It’s saying something about how well Arteta has done that I look at Arsenal’s team and think “they’re not that great, we could beat them.” When in reality they’ll either score early and walk it about or pile on relentless pressure and one defensive lapse/deflection and we’ll concede. UTFT!
Was petty much as I called it. Ten minutes out on the goal and Tarkowski instead of Coady, but most importantly 3 points!!! Onana is immense, I’m so glad he stayed.
Re: Arsenal v Everton
Duke, Onana and Iwobi offer a lot of running - proper Dyche players. Today was a cup final; let's see how we fare against average, mid-table sides in the coming weeks, starting with the Shite

Dyche, getting the players up for high intensity football. not for a long time have I seen Everton in the faces of the opposition, we lose to the likes Wolves-Southampton and West Ham but, beat top the table ,that’s Everton .
Re: Arsenal v Everton
Who the fuck was that team in the blue shirts, and where have they been hiding?
That was an immense performance. We didn't just hang on to a scrape a win, we dominated the runaway league leaders and could - should - have won by two or three.
The old lady was really rocking at the end, just a fantastic feeling. That was a Dyche masterclass, and it does make you wonder just what sort of amateurs Lampard and his team were. Love Frank, but just look at the difference today with a few tweaks to the plan.
I had to drive up on Friday cos of the train strikes, but the upside was that I went on the Legends Tour of Goodison which was superb - highly recommend a tour before they knock the place down - culminating in a brilliant q and a with Peter Reid and Graham Stuart, hosted by Mark Higgins. Reid had us rolling around laughing at his stories, and it was eye-opening hearing their views on the current Everton team, which was pretty much exactly the way the fans see it. And to cap a great tour, Sean Dyche popped his head round the door to say hello.
What a fucking 24 hours that was.
UTFT!!!!

Re: Arsenal v Everton
Other than for the ref (rightly so) no boo boys were present.
I noticed some empty seats in the first half which started to fill up after Tark scored.
Duke's selection and performance was a statement.
If Mc Neil can play like that each week, then maybe we will change our opinion of him?
As for the banner toting nobheads, they can stick them up their jacksies, and stay away.
Now we've beaten the table toppers, what do they think of the board now?

Re: Arsenal v Everton
My son and I did that back in December of 2017. I also highly recommend it. Mark Higgins was the tour guide for us as well, with Kevin Ratcliffe and Ian Snodin as the Legends, although you could make the argument that they were all legends.hairy cataract wrote:Who the fuck was that team in the blue shirts, and where have they been hiding?

Re: Arsenal v Everton
One more thing about the game yesterday, Arteta sure is a sore loser. Barely shook Dyche's hand at the end. I understand he's disappointed, any manager would be, but show some respect.

One thing is clear from this - Onana, who seems like a really bright lad to me, knows that he has Goodison in the palm of his hand right now. I really hope he doesn't let us down.

The 'I aint fucking going nowhere, bro' at circa 15.50 was pretty encouraging. Him driving the ball up the pitch late in the game, getting disposessed, tackling back to get the ball out of play and then giving it some geeing the crowd up was an enduring image. He was absolutely on it on saturday and he treated the game with the seriousness it deserved. A proper box to box midfielder as well, tackle, run, create, even a little bit of dribbling. He can do it all, like a much better Fellaini.

Yes, he is really starting to look like a star. The business about staying here is incredibly clever, even if it's just for show. He's a hero now at Goodison - and even if he fucks off to Chelsea for £80m in the summer, he'll probably be given a free pass by Evertonians because of his attitude. But as a player, I'm loving him. He's a bit too cocky if anything, and is bound to fuck up at some point, but I absolutely love what he's doing at the moment. I never get a replica shirt, but if I did, he'd be on the back.
That Tunnel Access was one of the best yet, IMO. Really captured the vibe, the angles are brilliant, and the crowd is turned up to full volume which is what it felt like on the day. Best since the Palace game at the end of last season I reckon.
