Brighton Hove Albion V Everton
Brighton Hove Albion v Everton at the Falmer Stadium AE stadium.
Saturday 29th August 2021 k/o 15.00pm
Everton come-up against a decent opponent in Brighton Hove Albion who have started the season well,
With both teams winning in the league Cup midweek its building as a decent fixture.
reports suggest Rafa Benitez has a full squad to choose from. Ben Godfrey is back from Isolation as is Gbamin,
James Rodriguez however is fit but it remains to be seen if Benitez includes him in the squad.
Going for a 0-2 win Richarlison and DCL UTFT's

It'll be nice to get this one and the transfer window out of the way so we can see what we have to work with.
If I were some pundit twat like Lawrenson, I'd say that the performance is probably more important than the result here, or some other gibberish of that ilk. In reality though, only 3 points will do or my weekend is ruined.
Brighton 3 (Gary Stevens imposter 3) - Everton 4 (the real Gary Stevens 4)

Weren't both Gary Stevens named in one of our world cup squads? Was it 86? Can't be arsed to Google it.
2-1 to us (Townsend, Kroldrup.) I'm feeling good about this one, I like Brighton as a team but we had their number last season, I think. We even got a point at their place in April when we were utter dross.

Fairly even at the moment.
James not even on the bench so I doubt we'll see him in a blue shirt again.

Re: Brighton Hove Albion V Everton
RB has clearly defined our new system.
4-4-2 immediately becomes 4-2-4 when we have the ball.
"Pace, pace, pace..." he said at his first training session.
So this is the blueprint.
What we've lacked for 5 seasons. Gray and Townsend have made a refreshing change.
Choices in front of goal are not always the best, but I'll take their confidence.

DCL from the spot
Richie wanted to take it though, slightly embarrassing.

Trossard holds back Richie, clear peno not given by VAR

Solid performance. The 2 newbie whippets have added so much to the wide positions. They both put in a shift too. Who needs number 10s?

Pleasing that we were up against a team who managed to deal with our main threat (crosses into the box), yet we still got 3 points.
Richie's antics over the penalty were a bit silly but you can't fault the guy's commitment. Even at 2-0 he was chasing everything, harrassing defenders, closing down their GK.

If Richie hadn't fallen over like a swan dive, it would have been given. VAR likely looked at it and said "yeah, there is some pulling of the arm, but he embellished it so much when he went down that it's unclear how much pulling there really was - no penalty."Yankthattoffee wrote:Seemed obvious.Armchair wrote:Trossard holds back Richie, clear peno not given by VAR

Re: Brighton Hove Albion V Everton
Nice. I'm not surprised, I genuinely expected us to win today. Didn't see it but from all accounts, we were comfortable. My lad said they tried to match us in a 4-4-2, which was a mistake that played into Doucoure and Allan's hands. Brighton play nice football but they and their manager can be very naive at times.
I still haven't watched an Everton game live this season and football is the only thing I'm superstitious about. So I won't watch a game until we've lost one.
We've made a good but our depth is still thin, we only had 8 on the bench today and we're only a few key injuries away from mediocrity. Things are looking fairly rosy at the moment, we have a manager who knows what he's doing and a decent run of games coming up, but I won't be getting carried away like last season.
Some suggestions on the grapevine that we'll be doing a bit of business in the next few days. Kean to Juve is pretty much confirmed and apparently we're getting Luis Diaz from Porto. Apparently he's very quick, my lad approves of this signing. A couple of other rumours getting a bit stronger too. We need a few more players in for depth, fingers crossed.

Re: Brighton Hove Albion V Everton
isn't superstition wonderful Rotts... Everytime I predict us to win in the board predictor we lose, so I feel it my duty to always predict a defeat... it makes me cringe every week that I do it, but I feel it has to be done.... I always try to predict a shite win too, in the hope it will make them loseRotterdam 1985 wrote:Nice. I'm not surprised, I genuinely expected us to win today.
