Deserved in the end, so can't argue too much there.

Bit of a reality check about our progress. They say the league doesn't lie but we're a long way off top 4.

Unfortunately I don't have a good argument to disprove your point.

Cheers Blues, Happy Christmas.

Still to many players just not good enough, the difference was ? we bring on Bernard and Davies plus Tosun,
They bring on Martial-Rashford and Shaw.Cavani would have walked if we had VAR tonight.wouldn’t be surprised if the FA bring a charge to Cavani. Still we move on to Sheffield United and the League.

Another Injury with Richarlison.

Our squad is wafer-thin compared to United's.  As Sef says, they could bring on Martial and Rashford, to replace players who would get a game in most top sides.  We have nothing on the bench.  Letting Moise Kean go looks particularly stupid when we bring on Tosun.  We literally have no alternative to DCL and I thought he was looking a bit tired by the last quarter tonight.

Frustrating for Carlo because he knows he can't get much more from a squad like this - especially in a compressed season when the games are coming thick and fast.

Gomes looks so far off the pace at the moment, it's hard to see him getting another start but in the absence of Allan, who plays?  Davies or, when he's fit, Delph?  Neither of them are good enough if we aspire to a top 6 finish.

It's a pretty open PL this season, below the Shite who will run away with it for sure, but we're nowhere near good enough yet.

Agree with the last few comments. In the end this boiled down to their backup striker being Cavani, who is still lethal and could be trusted to do a job from the start, and ours being Tosun, who's useless and was only chucked on for last knockings when we were desperate.

The transfer window opens in 9 days' time. Hopefully there will be some scope to bring in a bit of squad depth. I think Olsen is the only player we have on loan at the moment, so a couple of loan signings and a couple of half-decent squaddies would be nice if Carlo and Brands can do their thing. Our depth is laughably thin at the moment for a team that's 4th in the league.
