Anthony Gordon on going in to see Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti... 🗣💙
"I didn’t go and bang his door down, I went and asked politely, ‘What can I do better to get in the team?"
I always want to get better and improve as a player.
“I just wanted his views on that – he gave me his view and I am trying to work on that every day.
“[There was] nothing specific [Ancelotti asked from Gordon], he said I am doing very well and to keep doing what I am doing. We have a very competitive side, which I understand.
“With the players, we have brought in and already had, it is a really strong squad. For a young player to break through is hard and for me to be here and getting opportunities is testament to how I am training and improving.
“I was a little bit [nervous going to Ancelotti], yes. It was my first time doing it. But he is such a warm man and manager.
"For me, the nerves weren't as bad as they could have been, because he is such a nice person.
“He welcomed it with open arms.”

On loan, that'll likely work for all involved parties, but I don't want to see another club sign him permanently since I believe he could be a good squad player, at a minimum.

Anthony Gordon Action-s

Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon scored twice in the first 11 minutes of his England U21 debut as they beat the Czech Republic at Turf Moor to boost their hopes of Euro 2023 qualification.

Scored a cracker for England u21's against Andorra. Very cool finish, I'd love to see him doing that for us a couple of times over the next few games.

I did think he'd stay with us if we go down, but I have to admit - there'll be at least half a dozen PL sides desperate to sign him.

Newcastle have made initial contact with Everton about Anthony Gordon, but the Merseyside club do not want to sell.

Newcastle are looking to add a wide midfielder to their squad this summer and have identified Gordon as a target.

Sky Sports News has been told Newcastle did not make a bid, rather it was more of a tentative enquiry as they weigh up their options.

Everton, though, are determined to keep the 21-year-old, making it very unlikely that a deal for Gordon could progress.

How much? Give us £50m and you can have him and Andre Gomes.

Weird isn't it.  I mean, have they actually seen him play, or do they have so much money that they can buy anyone they fancy just to fill the bench on league cup nights?  Is the new owner trying to show how flash he is?  I really don't get it.  Anthony has potential, but the jury is still out on him.  Someone like Saka is a million miles ahead of him at the same age, while Gordon is just a hard-working player with a turn of speed who looked good last season in a team so shit that they only just avoided relegation.

Problem is, we are so short of decent players, that - even though they are probably offering twice what he's actually worth - we can't accept it because we're useless in the transfer market and are already struggling to put a team out with any forwards at all.

Embarrassing.

I'd hate to see another homegrown player leave before realising their potential but if Broja and Gallagher are part of the deal (on a permanent basis, not loan), it's not deal we should turn down.

Imagine us starting against Notts Forest with no Richarlison, no Gordon, no DCL.    Imagine Rondon up front, with McNeil and Gray either side of him.  Imagine our best player on the pitch being Alex Iwobi.

Imagine us getting relegated.

I could fucking cry at what we've become.

Everton offered Anthony Gordon a new contract 3 weeks ago but that currently remains unsigned. As we understand Gordon’s representatives have made clear he won’t sign a new contract

If this is true it sounds like he wants out ... maybe the Chav striker swap (broja) would be best for all

Allegedly rejected with claims that Everton value the 21-year-old at over £50m and it remains to be seen whether the Blues will make an improved bid for Gordon in the coming days.

Chelsea make official bid of around £40m-£45m for Everton winger Gordon

Everton have received an official bid of around £40m-£45m from Chelsea for winger Anthony Gordon.

Conversations between the two clubs have been ongoing for a few days but the London club have now made their interest official.

However, Sky Sports News understands Everton remain uninterested in selling the 21-year-old.

Toffees boss Frank Lampard needs to add forward options to his squad before the transfer window ends and Chelsea's offer may well test Everton's resolve in order to find the finances to make that happen.

If we could hijack the potential release of Vardy to Manure…. Then that would be a dilemma.. even if fir just one season…. The last time we grabbed a centre forward from Leicester was a decent bit of business if I recall

There's a film in this. "Hardball" - one football club's vain battle to try to squeeze a few more quid out of another football club.

Brad Pitt IS Frank Lampard.
Macauley Culkin IS Anthony Gordon
Charles Manson IS Thomas Tuchel.
Danny DeVito IS Bill Kenwright.

And special guest star Lassie as the Goodison Dog.

Thomas Tuchel is seriously odd. That handshake thing the other day was one of the best bits of sporting TV I've ever seen. I saw it in real time then had to keep re-watching it just to make sure it was as fucking hilarious as I thought it was. You could put music to it and make it look he's jiving with Conte.

To be fair, Tuchel's interview after was pretty good. He said to the Sky dickhead something like "It's what you want to see isn't it?", and of course he's right. It's exactly what they want on Sky so they can keep banging on about the PL being an incredible "product". Product. Fuck off.

Talking of Sky dickheads, I loved it when Souness was rattling on about football being back to being "a man's game" when it got a bit tasty, and the idiot next to him got all nervous and said "err and a woman's game too though eh". Of course Souness will probably get sacked for it, but I don't think he meant it as anything other than it being a man's game not a boy's game. It wasn't him being a neanderthal sexist pig. Though he is that too of course.

Fucking Sky wankers.

Yeah, Sky will be loving it, I daresay they're still raking over it on Sky Sports News, replaying it over and over, getting in experts to have their say, like Big Sam, Ann Widdecombe and the bass player from The Delays.

So will the Premier League and the FA of course. No publicity is bad publicity. Of course I saw this from the other side, having spent 10 years watching kids (and their parents) replicating that sort of behaviour in youth football. Not that the Tuchel/Conte thing wasn't enjoyable - it was hilarious - just saying that there are messy repercussions when the authorities choose not to clamp down hard on such shenannigans for "product" reasons.

Tuchel clearly pulls the wings off of ladybirds for fun. But I also think Conte had it coming, I've noticed him giving it that disrespectful no-look handshake many times in the past. So it was funny to see him getting pulled up for it, but also funny that Tuchel felt the need to do it in such a public way, as though it bothered him so much. Both twats, but it was all a bit WWE, just showbiz. I'd have more respect for both of them if it had degenerated into something like this, from the good old days when footy shirts were made from canvas and rubbed your nipples raw if you forgot to wear a vest...

Seems like Chelsea keep on pursuing Gordon.

If we sell Gordon, then so be it, I just hope that we can reinvest that money wisely, something we haven't been that great at.

It will be hard to turn down £50m+. It would be bad move for Gordon though - can't see him getting many minutes, a la Barkley.
