everton v liverpoo
prob the most optimistic derby for years, if we take the game to them and don't bottle it, we have a very good chance of winning this, our team now has the pace and skill to challenge anyone, just the mental block to get through.

Re: everton v liverpoo
Everton 3 (Dobson, Darracott, Adrian OG) Shite 2 (Heighway, Pickford OG)
I consider this to be a free hit, with all the pressure on them because we're great and we're top and they're shite and they've just got twatted by Villa.
My eldest completely disagrees. He thinks now is the time to finally do them over and that if we don't win this one, with the stars apparently aligned in our favour, then when will we win one?
He's probably right, I'm more of a dreamer/optimist than he is. I'm just hoping that the new players don't give a flying fuck about recent Derby history (why would they?) and just treat this as a normal big game. First goal is so important - if we get it, we can just do what Villa did, which is play Liverpool at their own game, long balls through and over their high line for our pacy forwards to run onto.
Ultimately I reckon the team whose goalie is less of a bell-end on the day will probably win.

I don't think we should get too carried away by the Villa result, fun though it was. The Shite have comfortably beaten Arsenal and Chelsea in the league recently.

Agree, but shows they can be vulnerable, especially without Allison and Mane. If we can get our full xi out, and fit, we can give them.a game, even if Mane is back. I fancy us to score a couple but whether we can hold out at the back is another matter. Would take a draw but a win would be sooooo awesome!!!

Every so often we have one of them games "if we don't beat them now, when will we?"
I felt that way about the league cup game last season which we lost 1-0, but fook me, it's fooking time!!!!!!

I feckin' hate these breaks
"Could Yerry Mina miss the Merseyside derby?
The defender sat out Colombia's game last night after suffering discomfort in his thigh in training."

"Ancelotti added new signing Ben Godfrey could make his Everton debut in Saturday’s derby showdown."

Not sure how to read that but could work out ok. Godfrey is quick and that should help v Salah and Mane but Mina has the experience. I am so nervous abiut this game, because its the hope that gets you ! Usually I expect to get thrashed, but this time we look in with a decent chance. Cue a 5-1 mauling!!

Re: everton v liverpoo
We've had such a great start, but then injuries and travel hit at exactly the wrong time.
This is where Carlo earns his salary and our respect.
Interesting to see Keane hasn't featured in the last 2 England games, not even the bench.
Glad though. DCL on the bench tonight ttoo.

FFS!
Lucas Digne remains confident he will be fit to face Liverpool on Saturday despite picking up a knee injury when playing for France.
The Everton left-back came off with seven minutes remaining of the World Champion’s game with Croatia last night.

So we only have injury worries about Digne, Mina and Coleman, and form worries about Pickford. No problem.there, then!!!

If all fails, we still have the young 19 year old left back Nkounkou, Ben Godfrey will get a baptism of fire replacing Yerry Mina, but, the main concern would be for Seamus Coleman, specially with JJ Kenny still injured.
Hopefully though Seamus Coleman- Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina pass late fitness test.

I think Godfrey can play right back, which may be required if Coleman is out, as I can't think of another right back option apart from him and Jonjoe. Delph has played full back but he's a leftie.
How about a back four of Nkounkou, Keane, Digne and Godfrey? Assuming Digne is fit of course.
Re: everton v liverpoo
By the way I started shitting my undercrackers about the derby at about lunchtime today. It suddenly hit me.
All that bollocks I was spouting about this being a free hit? Fuck that. For about five seasons I've been happy to get away from the derby with a draw. Just give me the point now and spare me the misery and that omnipresent sense of imminent doom, thank you very much, I'll crack on with the rest of my weekend now.
That Allardyce 1-1 at Anfield? That was, in retrospect, one of the most embarrassing derby performances I've ever seen, worse than the Funes Mori red card game, on a par with the 5-0 at Goodison all those years back. John Beck stuff, kick the ball 80 yards down the pitch at every opportunity. Like we hoofed it 80 yards inside the first 10 seconds, as a statement of intent. Didn't care, we didn't lose to them. I was just glad that my arl fella, the School of Science fundamentalist, didn't have to watch that.
Now that yearning to beat the fucking crap out of them (based on a degree of realism) has returned. I'm tired of watching video re-runs of Jagielka's banger and Andy Johnson making Reina look like a cunt. I was even watching Andy King for the millionth time the other day ("get off the pitch...") Enough of that, I'm sick of only having history.
Fucking into these, blues.
(Actually, I'll never get tired of Jagielka's banger. Best goal I've ever seen.)

Re: everton v liverpoo
12 favourite derby memories
1. Sharp's goal
2. Jag's goal
3. Dunc putting "the guv'nor" Ince back in his box.
4. Varadi's winner in the cup, 1981. Meant a lot to an 11-year-old, that, in the days when the cup still meant something.
5. Reina trying to strangle Andy J in desperation after his goalline juggling attempt.
6. Carsley's goal.
7. McManaman and Grobbelaar handbags.
8. Julian Dicks' shell-shocked interview after his first derby.
9. The same game, I think - Dunc absolutely destroying Ruddock for 90 minutes. If it was boxing it would have been stopped etc etc...
10. Grobbelaar diving over Ratcliffe's dribbler. Followed by Ratcliffe's crap attempt at celebrating the goal. He didn't score enough to get any practice.
11. Cadamareri's goal.
12. Any time Sakho was in their starting line-up. My favourite comedy player of all time. Gutted when he left them.
Too many of these are too long ago. COYB.
