There was a coming-together on the pitch between Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min at the end of the half, there were fisticuffs.

I am surprised at the altercation, I don't know what it was over. Emotions are running high, it has been a poor season for Spurs.

At this moment in time, Spurs are not as together as everyone thinks.

The players have to take responsibility over the whole of the season under both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho, who they have regressed under.

It has not been as good as we would have expected.

More from Chris Sutton...

Chris Sutton

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

This has been like a training game but maybe it sums up both sides' seasons and where they are.

I have been really disappointed by Everton.

I am not watching the game but I can assume that the midfield is simply not creating much for the strikers to work off of, hence not a lot of chances.

Lacklustre. Probably a blessing in disguise as there is no way we are ready for a European campaign. We need some energy in midfield quite badly.

Andy McNamara: This was the game where we would find out about Everton. Unfortunately my fears have come to fruition. We lack quality, self belief and desire. Very simply you get the first goal and you win against Everton. There has been a deep rooted problem at this club for years.

Speaking of crap statistics earlier.

Everton have lost exactly half of their Premier League games in London (78/156), with only Newcastle (79) losing more in the capital than the Toffees.

That was dreadful. The only positive thing I can come up with is that it was a classic 0-0 and neither team deserved to win. A flukey OG decided it. But even saying that, Spurs wanted it so much more than we did. Jose has ruined them, but they still had more fight, more desire, more nastiness, and more flair than us.

At the end, Carlo did a lot of shrugging and eyebrow raising, but he really didn't seem all that arsed.

To call our midfield pedestrian is an insult to pedestrians. Where do we go from here? We simply don't have the players to be anything other than 9th to 14th in the table. We've bought so many duds over the years and we can't shift them. And we've got nobody coming through - Gordon looks okay but he's not going to turn us around, and DCL still seems to be treading water in his progression as a forward. Richarlison is our only quality player - and he got kicked off the pitch last night while our lot just watched and bottled out of tackles themselves.
