Dunc must have asked him to do a job and he hasn't done it?Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Wow. Kean has been subbed for Niasse. He's on the pitch for 18 minutes. He walks straight to the tunnel.

Must be. Kean looked distraught. Can't blame him.Yankthattoffee wrote:Dunc must have asked him to do a job and he hasn't done it?Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Wow. Kean has been subbed for Niasse. He's on the pitch for 18 minutes. He walks straight to the tunnel.

His body expression when he realized he was being subbed was tough to watch.Armchair wrote:Wow, Keans days at the club look numbered.

Re: Manure v Everton
That was a strange substitution. Clearly Moise Kean can't have been following the instructions he was given because you can always tell. If it had been tactical, Duncan Ferguson would have had a little word with him but he completely ignored him.

That can be the only reason. Big call.

Re: Manure v Everton
90% of Old Trafford has emptied out but the Everton fans remain, serenading Duncan Ferguson as he celebrates down with them in that corner.
Re: Manure v Everton
Really good point.
Edit- especially with the injuries we have in midfield.

Re: Manure v Everton
Very good point, very good performance.
Big Dunc says the Kean/Niasse sub was just to waste time - he might be telling the truth, or it might be that Kean didn't do what he was asked to do, which makes me wonder why he didnt bring on Niasse in the first place. Still, I think Kean has the potential to be a good player, but probably not at Everton. It might be that he just doesn't understand what is expected of him.
Odds on he's gone either after Christmas or in the summer.

Re: Manure v Everton
Everton interim boss Duncan Ferguson, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am delighted at the moment. We have got a point. Of course we were winning but I cannot complain. They came on strong in the second half but I thought we looked good on the counter attack. The boys were absolutely amazing.
"We beat a top team in Chelsea and now we've come to Old Trafford and got a draw."
On substituting Moise Kean just 18 minutes after the striker had come on: "It was not because of his performance. I just needed to make a substitution to kill a bit of time. I have a lot of strikers on the bench, it was nothing against him personally."
Re: Manure v Everton
Everton boss Duncan Ferguson expands a little more on his decision to substitute Moise Kean after just 18 minutes: "I thought he had not quite got into the pace of the game.
"Also, I have so many attackers on the bench I just needed to make a change to waste a bit of time. It is nothing to do with the player."
Asked if he will be speaking to him about it, Ferguson added: "I will do when I see him."
On why Everton's players have responded to him: "Good players working hard. That is what they have done really. The players have been tremendous for me, they have worked hard and put in a shift.
"We had a lot of injuries and sickness but you just have to get on with it, don't you?"
On whether he wants the job full time: "I am quite happy doing what I am doing. I am made up with the couple of games that I did and if I take the next game I take the next game. I am sure the club are looking for the right candidate for the job."
Any indication how long he will be in interim charge for? "No."
On Everton's goal: "I've not seen it back. They have VAR now so if there were any problems they would have chalked it off."
Re: Manure v Everton
Everton defender Michael Keane, speaking to MOTD: "Dunc said before the game that only five times in history we have got a point here so it is a great result for us. We frustrated them and on another day we could have come away with a win.
"He has brought the basics back. We know our shape really well, we are working hard for each other. Getting stuck in and last few games it has worked.
"He is calm but passionate. You can see the pride flowing through him and that brings it out in us, you want to fight for him. The lads are loving it at the minute and long may it continue.
"It is disappointing we conceded. A win would have been massive for us but against Leicester we were 1-0 up at half time and we ended up losing. We said at half time, we wanted to win but if we can't win don't lose it. Leicester really hurt us."
Re: Manure v Everton
And some more from the BBC webpage.
Duncan Ferguson says he 'thinks' he will be in charge of Everton for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester on Wednesday.
"I am due to see the directors later, I think there will be some kind of statement."
Ferguson says he is buying the Everton hierarchy time with recent results but that club should be getting a top manager in and he has no experience.

The difference between Dunc's short reign and Rhino's is that there was no improvement in performance under Rhino, whereas Dunc has got the team playing better, so the board have time to consider their options. With Rhino, we genuinely looked like relegation fodder so the board had to act and bring in Fat Sam. Having said that, you would think that if any of the obvious/unemployed managers wanted the job, or we wanted them (e.g. Emery, Poch, Ancelloti), they would have been announced already. So it looks like we will probably have Dunc until the end of the season. Which is fine while we are playing reasonably well, but if things start going wrong the board are back in the 'Fat Sam' situation.

Four degrees outside today. Hope someone’s left the car window open slightly for Duncan Ferguson.
