As part of the deal that took 23-year-old Colombia defender Yerry Mina from Barcelona to Everton, the Spanish club has an option to buy him back for 60m euros (£53.9m). (Marca)

Re: 13 - Yerry Mina - Physio room warmer
Yerry Mina departed Barcelona earlier in the month of August and joined Premier League side Everton, a deal which featured a buy-back clause in his new contract. Barcelona sold the Colombian centre-back for 30.2 million euros, just six months after signing him for 11.8m euros, and they will be able to re-sign him for 60m euros if they believe he is worth bringing back. However, they won't be able to activate that buy-back clause until at least 2020.The defender can't, therefore, be taken back to Catalonia next summer, but Barcelona would be able to sign him in any of the other subsequent transfer windows during his five-year Everton contract.

Everton centre-back Yerry Mina suffered a hamstring injury playing for Colombia against South Korea, despite the Goodison Park club warning his national team over the risk of overplaying the 24-year-old.

Also, some reports suggest Yerry Mina's injury? caused by playing for Columbia could see the defender side-lined for the remainder of the season.

Less than a day's salary. What's the point?

And he probably made more than £10k from the appearance, so....Armchair wrote:Sack the Juggler wrote:https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-defender-yerry-mina-handed-16894009

So, our 2nd injury & we haven't kicked a fucking ball yet in competition...
Everton Football Club can confirm Yerry Mina is set to be sidelined for several weeks after sustaining a muscle injury.
A scan confirmed the Colombia international suffered a partial tear in his left quad muscle during training last week.
The 25-year-old is now in the early stages of his rehabilitation under the care of the Club’s medical staff and making good progress.

I expect there'll be quite a few injuries in the coming weeks. Not just for us.
Season should have been cancelled.

Everton also lost centre-back Yerry Mina to injury in the second half, with Lampard saying the Colombian had an ankle injury and "could be out for a while".

Good player when fit. Which is not nearly often enough. Did we know of his injury record when he was at Barca, or is this something that started when he joined us?Armchair wrote:Out for 8 weeks.

Ah OK. Well I found it on youtube. It's a seven-second clip of Mina shithousing Havertz when we beat them last season. This youtube clip replays it four times over for some reason.
Yeah Havertz got booked for this. I remember the game well, Mina got into his head in the first 10 minutes and never left, drove Havertz insane.
Re: 13 - Yerry Mina - Physio room warmer
85 league games in 5 seasons with us. Average 17 games a season. Tragic really, he's a gem, one of the best centre backs we've had in decades, just ruined by injuries.
Re: 13 - Yerry Mina - Physio room warmer
Just not sure as to why Dyche didn't start him earlier. Statistically the best we have, and hugely influential on the players around him.Rotterdam 1985 wrote:85 league games in 5 seasons with us. Havertz isn't any great shakes, but he just about humiliated him at GP a while back.
With the injuries to Mina, DCL, and not having a great 6 or 10, we've had a poor backbone for a few seasons.
The backbone's connected to the success bone. Now hear the word....

My assumption has always been that Mina plays when he's fit, and doesn't play when he's not fit.
Tarko excepted, the idea that any footballing brain could prefer any of our other CBs over a fit Mina is just mind-blowing. But he's been injured more than not for us, so we don't know how much his ability to last 90 minutes (or even 20 minutes) came into play as far as Dyche is concerned, until maybe he felt he had no choice.
I honestly think he's the most talented centre back we've had since Ratcliffe/Watson, when fit. We had Jags and Distin who were very good and very consistent for us over a long period of time. We had one great season out of Heitinga. We had Richard Gough, a fine player, right at the fag end of his career. They're the only CB's since the 80's who come close. We've had Mina for five years and it's just a shame we couldn't make more use of him.
Re: 13 - Yerry Mina - Physio room warmer
Add to that list Yobo and Wier. Neither of them great, but Carsley in front and it was effective. I'm not so sure that any of that trio would get a game these days.Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:Just not sure as to why Dyche didn't start him earlier. Moyes introduced without fanfare, the back 3/5 when he put Lescott at LB, when really he was playing Dizzy/Jags/Lescott and 2 wing backs. Deadly from corners.

Re: 13 - Yerry Mina - Physio room warmer
He's just confirmed he's leaving at the end of the season. He invited us all to come to Goodison Park tomorrow to watch him go off injured after 17 minutes for the last time.
