Re: 21 - Andre Gomes - Portuguese Dog of War
Andre Gomes joined Everton first-team training on Tuesday for the first time since the midfielder suffered a fracture dislocation of his right ankle three months ago.
Portugal international Gomes returned to the Club’s USM Finch Farm training complex earlier this month for the latest phase of his rehabilitation.
The 26-year-old, who signed permanently last summer after spending 2018/19 on loan with Everton from Barcelona, has been working alone with medical staff since coming back to Merseyside.
Gomes sustained his injury in Everton’s 1-1 Goodison Park draw with Tottenham Hotspur on 3 November.
And only 86 days later the former Benfica and Valencia star was able to complement his individual programme by working alongside his Blues teammates for small sections of today’s first-team session.
It is the first time Gomes has trained under Carlo Ancelotti, who was appointed Everton manager last month.
Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, missed training with a minor knock but will be fit to rejoin Ancelotti’s squad on Wednesday.

Son Heung-min: Jose Mourinho expects Tottenham forward to miss rest of season
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51547261
Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho does not expect Son Heung-min to play again this season and says the club's injury situation "couldn't be worse".
South Korea forward Son, 27, will have surgery this week after fracturing his arm during Sunday's 3-2 win at Aston Villa, in which he scored twice.
Tottenham are already without England striker Harry Kane who tore his hamstring at Southampton in January.
"I'm not going to count on him again this season," said Mourinho.

Everton suggest swap deal with Andre Gomes for Liverpool-linked midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

I'm sure Rabiot would be delighted to end up at Goodison rather than Anfield

Really good player but a total knob. Personality wise, the last thing we need right now. So hopefully this is a load more transfer window manure.
He'd be absolutely fine for the Shite, because they're already good.

and they already have loads of knobs playing for them; and a knob of a manager... and multitudes of knobs supporting themRotterdam 1985 wrote:Armchair wrote:I'm sure Rabiot would be delighted to end up at Goodison rather than Anfield

I hope this one is true. I loved Gomes when he first came to Everton, and he seems like a very decent lad with a magnficent mane of hair and a very glossy beard, but at £100k a week it's like the entire squad having a massive cocaine habit in terms of wasted money.
Get that off the books and we could afford to bring in a top young striker on loan hint hint pull your fucking finger out Bill

It'll be good to get his wages off the books. My long view, though, is that this is pretty tragic. Loved Andre pre-injury.
Meanwhile Sky Sports News are telling us that "we're now hearing Everton have discontinued their interest in Joao Pedro" despite having told us that same news over two hours ago.
It's been on all day and I don't want to turn it off, because I want to hear about new prezzies, but it's already really pissing me off and there are still over 7 hours to go.

he's never really recovered from the Son attack on his ankle & let's be honest he wouldn't play again for us... and given how whit we are that says a lot
Just maybe if we bin enough dead wood in time we can actually sign someone decent up front .... but then again meh... won't happen will it

Fucking annoying that you posted this one minute before my post. Bastard.
Weirdly, Andre's injury, loss of his first XI place and imminent departure has freakishly coincided with Mrs Rotts now showing less interest in Everton live games. She claims she's disenchanted with our boardroom malaise and the lack of a sustainable long-term plan but I suspect the real reason is related to Andre's buttocks.

I forgot that Vinegar man makes it 3-3.... but Onana so 4-3 up ... if Gomes stays we're still at 3-3 & as we are now draw specialists that's where it will probably end..Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Made 4 Gwladys wrote:I'm really enjoying it ... All the best, Andre. Important to remember he was really quite an influential player before he got hobbled by Son. However the past few years in a team with very little pace his lack of pace was starting to become a liability.

There is a back story to Andre’s journey with us. It portrays a flawed genius of an absolutely brilliant person - actually a true blue in the finest traditions

Re: 21 - Andre Gomes - Portuguese Dog of War
Andre Gomes went on loan to Lille in the summer, but the Ligue 1 side don’t have an option or obligation to make the 29-year-old’s stay permanent and will have to hold fresh talks with Everton to retain him beyond this season, according to Jeunes Footeux.
Gomes has made 21 appearances in all competitions, but Lille deemed him 'risky' to sign permanently due to his injury record.

Re: 21 - Andre Gomes - Portuguese Dog of War
Fenerbahce have emerged as a club who could take Andre Gomes off the hands of Sean Dyche at Everton, according to claims in Turkey.
TEAMtalk recently revealed that Everton are still searching for a way to offload Gomes despite the English transfer window being closed. Clubs in Turkey can still make signings, though, which has enabled Fenerbahce to join the race for the midfielder.
According to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu of Sports Digitale, Fenerbahce have identified Gomes as someone they are interested in ahead of the Turkish deadline on September 15.
Fenerbahce have been in the market for reinforcements in midfield all summer. Recently, they bought Fred from Manchester United, but it seems they still have plans to reinforce the department.
Some other sources have also followed up Sabuncuoglu’s reveal that Gomes is now on Fenerbahce’s radar. They would give him his first taste of Turkish football if they managed to sign him.

I know he's the antithesis of a Dyche player but surely worth keeping as we are so low on numbers.
