haven't watched a lot of Palace but what i have seen he's always looked a real handful and hard working, bit erratic in the final third with his final ball but will have better support around him and his pace will make opposition fullbacks think twice about getting caught out up the pitch and will be a real threat on the counter if they do

the money initially seems insane when 30 mill was mentioned but current rumors seem more pallatable £22m (seems high still but this seson just seems to be add £10 mill onto last seasons probable value) with add ons for games played, winning things, league position etc so if we ever do have to pay the "full" amount then he'll have helped win us trophies and gotten into europe so probably fair enough.

Can't disagree really. He's a decent-ish player but, as we all pretty much suspected, never worth the sum of money paid for him. I would certainly expect a lot more from a player with that kind of price tag.

I sometimes have entertained this line of thinking..... if we look at the mid late 70s we were always there or thereabouts and we got the bum's rush.... in the noughties we qualified ahead and got screwed over... if we really to wish to vent our bitterness we could point to the "assistance" that the Shoite got as they fell from grace - CL "qualification for coming in top 4 - with the commensurate funding (compared to our assistance for not winning and coming close in the 70s).

But our self-agonising (it is just that not bitterness) harms no-one else but ourselves.

I see a future ahead for Everton. Particularly if we look, as we must, at our Club in the context that it actually is a business.

We now, more than at any other time in our history, have the potential means to revolutionise our DNA and create a new financial base in a new ground. The new ground WILL be built, it is I believe more likely to be on the waterfront than inland (no real insider knowledge) as it allows for a much clearer business model - better logistics, infrastructure.

Fundamentally I think Everton are a decent club they are renowned (usually) for doing things right. BK has certainly built upon that legacy (96 support is the best example, along with EitC, the Academy School, looking after Bill Shankly after he left the RS). I am imagining that the following is feasible...

End of Season 16/17 - Everton announce the location of the new football stadium. BK makes the announcement that his work is done and its time to move aside (he takes a "Doug Ellis" - Life President role). Moshiri assumes the mantle and promises that the playing side will be supported but his primary mission is to deliver the new stadium in time for the 18/19 season.

Season 17/18 - commercial take-up of season tickets is "boosted" with the promise of prioritisation for the new stadium. Everton are supported in the market and we will likely finish top half.... challenge for a cup... Moshiri finishes the season with a rousing send off for the Grand Old Lady and requests that Everton do not play at home for August and most of September to ensure that ground is fully ready... for the new long term owner of Everton Football Club.

Mosh sells part of his stake, and Bill and all other shareholders sell theirs to a man who whilst heavily invested in another club without getting a sniff of ownership or control (not even a seat on the Board) - step forward Mr. Alisher Usmanov (net worth $14,400,000,000).... (Abramovich is worth $8.3Bn, Kroenke is worth $7.4Bn). Why could we be so lucky.... one person more than most has helped Usmanov get that number and it was it Farhad Moshiri, together they established and built their respective empires.

Now would we be selling our souls? Well yes we will have to a certain extent ... but we would have a new stadium, very lucrative ownership to help salve our collective consciences as we wallow in our self-effrontery.

Bolasie, 27, injured his right knee during the Toffees' 1-1 draw with Manchester United on 4 December.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman says the DR Congo international underwent surgery on his torn meniscus on Thursday.

"Now he has to wait for nine to 10 weeks before surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament," the Dutchman said.

Koeman says Bolasie, who joined Everton from Crystal Palace in a £25m deal in August, is likely to be sidelined "for a long time" and will definitely miss his country's Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which starts in Gabon next month.

Martial tackled Bolaise from behind. It wasn't really a malicious tackle but we should have got at least a free kick out of it.
