Barnsley v Everton 3-5
The first cup action of the season sees Everton travel to Barnsley. Time for a decent run in this competition Bobby........
In front of the Sky cameras for the second game running, Everton to win 3-1.

He'll play a week team and we'll loose on penalties or whatever.
McGeady to miss the 5th penalty.

Re: Barnsley v Everton 3-5
our usual COC no show with a 2-0 win for Barnsley... esp. given Super's track record in last season's match thread of started 3 lost 2
both goals by Stones

Re: Barnsley v Everton 3-5
Barnsley have on-loan pair Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell will be included in the squad to face Everton. Manager Lee Johnson has no fresh injuries to report and is likely to name his strongest side.
Everton's Bryan Oviedo will make his first start since February after stand-in left-back Brendan Galloway sustained a knee injury. Leighton Baines (ankle), Steven Pienaar (hamstring), Tony Hibbert (knee) and Darron Gibson (foot) are all still out.
• Barnsley have not beaten Everton in any competition since December 1951 (D2 L6, including the Full Members Cup).
• Everton have been eliminated in their last five away League Cup games, last winning back in September 2009 at Hull.
• Barnsley have only won one of their last nine League Cup games in normal or extra time, though they have won two of their last four via a penalty shootout.
• Indeed the Tykes have failed to score in five of their last six League Cup matches at Oakwell.

I hope we play Stones. Send a message to the Chavs that he's not for sale (or at least they'll need to pay us top dollar).

We can simply deny the request.... put him on the bench (to stay fresh for Euros) and after window shuts explain the realities of English Contract Law. He is on a four year deal, if another club wishes to come in for him then the price is going to be £50M this year - £45M next year.... £40M the year after.... in the meantime we can have him continue to develop .... be very careful what you wish for John - your advisors are not always 100% acting in your SOLE interest... yes they act in your COMMON/JOINT interest but not in your sole which is what agency law requires.
Similarly EFC could sue for breach - if the agent or ascribed representative has spoken to CFC then under the law of agency that is no different from Stones talking directly himself.
I do want us to make a stand because the options are nowhere near as good as him staying. Perhaps throwing in a decent Chelsea player (striker/attacking midfielder) might be the key...

Instruct Chelsea to buy Yarmelenko, then loan him to us for the season with option to buy.

That's very big of him. He's only on £30k a week (I believe) but is still willing to play and risk getting his hair wet.

Probably hoping to do Barnsley one more favour.
How ironic it would be if one of their players gave him a serious injury.

One of my Chav mates was joking that they'll only win the Capital One anyway. I pointed out that we'd make fucking sure to get Stones cup-tiedGoodison_Gringo wrote:Statman wrote:Helenqu wrote:http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley/transfer-talk-wednesday-august-26-everton-attempt-to-buy-out-stones-sell-on-clause-swindon-stand-firm-over-town-target-byrne-1-7272067?

Re: Barnsley v Everton 3-5
Stones has to play as we don't have anyone else.
We have no replacement RB,CB, CB and we are on our 3rd crocked LB.
In midfield I presume Besic, Pienaar (if fit), Osman, McGeady, Mirralas will all start. Put Naismith up front on his own.

Good to see Stones playing. Not so good to see McGeady playing. Mind you, Barnsley are probably his level so he might do ok.
