I'll have what he has had!   cheers

I prefer a manager that has ambitions, rather than one that makes excuses .

Absolutely. It's got to be better to aim ridiculously high and fail than to not bother trying and accept your place in the status quo.

Excellent news, considering Moyes played stupid games signing his contract.
Glad to see Roberto showing ambition with Everton.

Martinez: We weren’t happy with our fitness so we have adjusted

Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that the management team and players weren’t happy with the players fitness so they have adjusted a few things and as a result have been finishing games stronger.

Late equalisers by Arsenal and Leicester City and a complete disaster against Chelsea showed that there were some cracks in the squad fitness and Martinez admits it is an area that they weren’t happy with so changed it.

He said: “It was an aspect we weren’t happy with.

“It’s about facing adversity full on. Probably our physical levels were dropping in the last 15 to 10 minutes of the games

“The players we have at the club wanted to know the reasons why it was happening. They weren’t happy to accept it. So we adjusted a few things and now we’ve been finishing games stronger than the opposition with a good energy about our play and that’s been really important.

“As a team you need to face what’s wrong, if there’s anything you don’t do too well, and then rectify it.

“That’s been a big positive for us that we were able to adjust it.”

Martinez applauded the defiant spirit in his camp, which he believes will help them turn their current slump around when the Premier League resumes after the international break.

“We cannot lose character in our season,” he said.

“We showed that determination and never say die attitude at Anfield.

Hang -on Roberto shouldn't this kind of thing be sorted in pre-season? Oh wait a minute ,we didn't have much of a pre-season .
now we are lagging behind in fitness , we are lagging behind the rest of the premiership.

I'm starting to believe Martinez don't know what he's doing , Is he looking to social media to see what the fans comments are ? I want to know why so many of are players getting injured ? Is it lack of fitness? Is it the type boots they are wearing ? I know blades cause more knee and ligament damage than any other boot, they restrict your knee movement when slide tackling they don't turn in the grass too well.

Maybe I'm clasping at straws. cheers

With the wages they earn, fitness should be a basic requirement, not something you tweak when you find yourself at the bottom end of the table in October.

Fucking joke. Bobby shouldn't have swanned off to the World Cup, and the players should have been fit and raring to go on day one. Why the fuck were all the World Cup players allowed to take weeks and weeks off when most of them were dumped out of the tournament after a few days?

I've said it before on here, but Jags was in our hotel in Turkey pissing around on the waterslides when every other club had their players back in training. Why was he given an extra three weeks off? He played a couple of games and was home by the end of fucking June. Same for Lukaku who did fuck all in the World Cup but wasn't given a full pre-season. And Mirallas. Madness.

Sack Moyles.

I don't think many first team players were out in pre-season Austria, when they did arrive, they did a little ball work nothing much,
at least Moyes would have had them fit if nothing else.

They are nothing more than a bunch of pampered footballers , managed by a Manager who doesn't know how to discipline or train them.

Too many people getting a good wage for doing what exactly?

I'm very concerned by his lack of critism for players that are not performing.for quite a few months now Martinez has made every excuse for are lack of form other than blame himself or the players,we have no fight or desire any more and I find are style of play very boring ,he doesn't seem too concerned but, keep the losing streak going he will lose the support of the most faithful fans.

I think patience is something most Evertonians are wearing a bit thin of,Martinez has already faulted under Wigan, Failure to strengthen in January on are already ageing team ,could be to late to avoid a relegation battle.

A real mixed bag of games since August. Now this period will help define RM's credentials.
Can he bring the best out of Barclay, whose career seems to have stalled, if not retreated, or have we got too many number 10s? Is the lad even fit?
Can he figure out how to get Baines and Seamus back into influential gear?
Get Big Luke into the game far more than currently, and bring back the interplay that was developing so well last year. Now the same players look like they've hardly trained together.
Loads of injuries - This is when Moyes earned his keep. We always seemed to bring out the dogs of war when we were down to say 12-13 fit first teamers. Over to you Rapid Robby.

Roberto Martinez is the next Premier League manager who faces the axe.
In a shock development it is understood Martinez is suddenly under immense pressure at Everton in the wake of Neil Warnock’s dismissal at Crystal Palace. The 66-year-old Yorkshireman became the first Premier League managerial casualty of the season on Saturday.
The man who is being lined to replace Martinez as new Goodison Park boss is former England manager Steve McClaren, currently in charge at Derby.

I would assume it's a double not a chance. Martinez is probably under some pressure, but not so much to face the ax. And Steve McClaren? Uh, no.
