Why do we need to make any comment? We are in a strong position. I know a lot of other fans (travelling with cabbies all over UK/Europe) are pretty peeved at how Chelsea are doing business. We do not need to say anything ... he is not for sale - he is an Everton player under contract and that he is a valued young player of immense potential. If you are not accepting our rebuttals and are in interested in finding a price then look at the market place and Stones is in the same bracket (if not higher than Mr Sterling).

Sooner or later we will get to the point where deals like this represent significant down payments for any Stadium rebuild.

Not if we bought a decent young (22-26 year old) CB who his proven at a high level too. Evans would be a decent back up to Jags and New Boy.

However as noted in a number of papers. Why would Everton who only have 2 recognised CBs sell one of them.

We'll here nothing on this for a while and then the next headline we hear will be Stones submits official transfer request. Then Chelsea get their man after the board decide not to keep a player at the club who doesnt want to be there. Rooney, Lescott saga all over again Im afraid.

Doubt it. He'll get enough at Chelsea. He is a proven England international. So he should be up there with Cahill.

If we can get a tried and tested CB in his mid 20s, plus a fab player in the hole/slot, for the money we make, then so be it.
I expect a second season dip for Stones, but sad to see him go.

We don't need the money so unless the offer is silly (£40m+) or Stones throws his toys out of the pram and refuses to play for us (he seems reasonably level-headed so not likely), we should tell the Chavs to take a hike.

I can't imagine a situation in which we would sell Stones for less than £30m in this transfer window. Ideally, keep him but, if he does end up asking to speak to Chelsea or Man City, then I would expect Bill to ask for not far short of £40m and settle for the mid-thirties including some perforance related stuff and maybe a makeweight in exchange.
