Agreed onthe comment he'd only go if Celtic were in the EPL
Or on a scouting mission to see if we could get any squad players for a few pennies
I'd take Scott Brown anyday off Celtic

Cheers for the link. A good read, even though it's just more of the same that Moyes has said over the last couple of years - he wants to win. Whether it's the league or a cup, he wants silverware.SouthernSmugToffee wrote:Moyes is aiming for the EPL title!

Guess this is going to be a a vital season for us and his future, by the end of the season he will be going into the 3rd years of his 5 yr contract and if we have another average season I would imagine he might start thinking of a new challange

Cant see him going to any of the top 4 to be honest. While SAF loves him, thats not enough, chairman of "those" clubs want proven winners they are almost obbessed with anyone outside of Britian. So I if he does leave it may be to somewhere else but I just dont see him getting a top 4 job yet.

Dear David - Shape up or ship out.
Only 2 weeks in and I'm already fed up with him.
I actually don't think he has what it takes to take our club forward anymore. His position is far too comfortable, and it's time he felt a little bit of pressure and improved his performances.
His negative reluctance to take a chance is suffocating the prospects of a very decent squad, and though it's a squad that he put together, buying players, and managing them, are 2 different things, and if he's only good at the first, then we have a problem.
The guy is starting to show signs of incompetence and looks generally clueless, and not for the first time.
Rant over.

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
I do understand your point but as a manager with a very limited budget he has performed miracles at Goodison. I dont always agree with his tactics or substitutions (like today) but we wouldnt want Mike Walker or Colin Harvey back. If you look at the managers currently employed in the Premier League, there is over half of them that I would never want to see at Goodison.
Long live the reign of Moyes IMO.

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
Moyes has worked wonders........but we are clearly not good enough for top 4. Top 6 and a good cup run is what we should aim for. He needs to look at why we dont start well as that is down to him.
Why he did the subs I will never know........even a newbie FM player could see they wouldnet work......baffleing.
But DM is the best manager that I can remember since the "glory days".
Shame as I thought we could really attack Spurs and co this season.

We still can.
We have punched well above our weight for a few years now and we would find ourselves back in the bottom half of the league if we had the same team with a different manager IMO.

How much credit can we keep giving him though Dixie? The last 8 years have been Moyes' era. We don't know that another manager could not have done just as good a job or not, as the helm was handed to him.
What we do know though, is that we now need to push on, and take the next step, or the past 8 years have been wasted, especially if we are to drop out of the top teams, and into mid table mediocrity again.
While we are this close, it's important that Moyes is prepared to change as a manager. We don't need a manager now, that can get us out of relegation trouble. We don't need a manager now, who can bring in players on the cheap and perform miracles with them. Those jobs have been done, and yes, by Moyes.
What we need now is a different Moyes. We need one that can now out witt his opponents. We need one that can change a game with a substitution, or simply an instruction, and we need one that learns from previous games, and applies that knowledge to future situations.
I can go on, but I don't need to tell you lads stuff you already know. We don't need to sack Moyes, but what we do need is for Moyes to evolve, and if he refuses to evolve, then it's time for the next man.

We can but it will be hard. We are 3 points down really. I think if we had 4 points from these last 2 anyone bar Chelsea and Man Ure would of been happy.
We still can but it will be hard but our season really must start Sunday.
I am fed up with reading that we would of won the league if it started in Jan 2010......lets do somthing about it and show what these lads can do.

It's important to remember Moyes is a very inexperienced manager Dixie other than what he has learnt while he has been here, other than his stint in the lower leagues.
He has little European experience either, so each year, he is learning. When he gets to the same age as the top managers in the Premiership, then it will be fair to compare to a degree, but having said that, there are very good managers in the league, and elsewhere, who are very capable of taking Everton forward. They might not have been able to do what David Moyes has already done, but the next step is a different kind of job.
Sven would be my next choice if Davey ever left.

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
I had hoped we might change the formation today againstt a poor wolves team playing 451 at home seems a bit negative. The problem is Cahill isn`t so good in 442 and I dont think Moyes wants to drop him. I wouldn`t want Moyes to leave but I feel he is a bit too loyal to certain players the likes of Hibbert,Osman and to a certain degree Cahill can have a poor few games but still get picked week in week out where as other players dont get the same backing.
Moyes is no way perfect but he is still our biggest asset and it would be a disaster if he were to leave. Lets not get too downbeat as it is usual for us to start of not so great, I think we all hoped this year would be different but it looks like it might be the same, lets just hope we dont leave it too late. I think when we finished 4th we didn`t start to get going untill Sept/Oct time.

Re: DAVID MOYES - ex Boss
he's done miracles for us, we'd be seriously fucked without him. he's built the team and cultivated a family atmosphere which keeps our best players there when they could move on for more money.
tactically, i've always thought he needed to improve, as various humiliating beatings in europe and vs 10 men liverpool teams have shown. i dont think we should sack him at all, i do wonder if he should get a coach in that can introduce a better, more effective type of football though.

thats a very good point, I often wondered what sort of influence Steve Round has brought to the club, not that experienced himself. maybe Moyes should look at getting someone else in, the thing I have always liked about Moyes is that he is constantly looking to improve as a manager he has spent times abraod watching other ways of coaching so it is good that he aware he isn`t the finished article.
If he went I would fear we would end up with someone like Peter Reid or Sam Alladyce and that send real shivers down my spine, we would struggle to get anyone better than moyes at the moment.
