He's on the bench mate
Arteta injured
Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta has a 50-50 chance of being fit for the visit of Sunderland.
The Spaniard made his comeback as a substitute in Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Birmingham after almost a year out with a cruciate knee injury.
However, he sustained a minor groin problem in a practice game on Monday which, ironically, had been arranged to give the likes of him and new loan signing Philippe Senderos a chance to improve their match fitness.
Centre-back Senderos, signed on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season, is in David Moyes' squad but is likely to be among the substitutes.

Was always going to be eased back in slowly. I imagine they'd substitute him at the very slightest twinge to give him the best chance of recovering fully. Still going to be a good few months before we see the best of him.
Just need to keep him fit while we get through the Europa League stages so he can be 100% for the semis and final.

minor grion injury sounds more like his body was tired after the game. I presume he has had no match practice in 11 months bar Saturday. His body is going ache.

I like how you went with the worrying headline to shit everyone up
I actually heard about this last night, they were playing Bury weren't they? Pretty standard this kind of thing when you've been out for so long, I'm sure he'll be on the bench.

Your being far too level headed. He's been rushed back to soon. He's ruined. Sell him to Rayo Vallecano. Kill Moyles. Burn Hibbert. Buy Bellamy

Re: 10: Mikel Arteta - Best Little Spaniard - Arsed!
Take Kenwyn Jones on loan & finish fourth (guaranteed)... bid for a midfield of Bellamy, Bowyer & Barton ... Bugger Moyles & rip his ears off ... burn Hibbo .. loan Arteta to the shite with a view to a free move at the end of the seasonTop Balcony Blue wrote:Mr_Ben wrote:Top Balcony Blue wrote:hairy cataract wrote:He's been brought back too soon. Chance for Arteta?
If Fabregas has broke his leg, as he fears, and isn't fit for the WC do you reckon Arteta might get the nod?
Or will there just be a La Liga midfielder ready to step in?

If he's fit, he's got to be in with a shout. Would be a fitting end to a terrible year for him (footy-wise anyways, as I know he's had a kid with that stunner).
A lot of people see spain's midfield and think "well, you can see why arteta isn't in the squad", but I actually think he'd benefit from having that kind of level around him.
Re: 10: Mikel Arteta - Best Little Spaniard - Arsed!
I hope he gets in there for sure. He's on a long term contract, right?
Re: 10: Mikel Arteta - Best Little Spaniard - Arsed!
I was thinking this as well when I heard Fabregas may miss the World Cup. Arteta does seem the most likely option.

Arteta's fingering technique
Must have avioded a red card simply as Pederson didn't fall onto the floor. If that had been a number of players they would have gone down in a flash.
