That was a very long and frustrating night whilst superb Cup tie for the neutral fan,
Hope we got players fit for Sunday.

Bang on, but some ordinary performances to overlook right now.

Re: Everton v Spuds
Mourinho man of the match. At 3-3 with DCL going off, we were gone, like a bug on its back. But Mourinho just can't bring himself to go for the jugular.
Something very un-Everton about the last two games. Dead and buried against Manure, we nick a point. There for the taking tonight at 3-3, we end up winning. Fitness helps, but there's some character there as well. I just think we're a better team than Spurs.
This season has had its ups and downs, but it's been fun. When we're not playing Newcastle anyway.

Yeah we're not actually playing that well. We're just showing some balls.
That was our 6th game in 17 days. Four of those six games were pretty intense. I think we're physically as fit as any team in the league, but maybe a bit tired mentally. That's my only explanation for us going all Marco Silva at corners all of a sudden. A lack of concentration caused by mental tiredness.

A second career for Seamus. He looked great in that slot.Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:Armchair wrote:Doucoure and Davies were outstanding tonight.

Jeez, that was heart-attack material. How the fuck did we win that?? Hope the news is good for DCL as the run of games coming up after Fulham is tough!!

I was thinking, if it was bad, then he wouldn't be out there watching and shivering after he went off. But Dunc didn't sound too optimistic after the game.
If we can get away with him being out for Fulham (who we should beat anyway) and City (free hit) and just have him fit for the Shite, that will be a result.
Re: Everton v Spuds
It was immense and horrible. I don't think I enjoyed a single minute, apart from perhaps a few minutes where we were 3-1 up. I had to briefly turn over when we conceded a corner at 4-4 in he 90 something minute.
Still, alls well that ends well. We#ve been back in lockdown again for the last 10 days, and so far I've had the Leeds game, the Man Utd game, and tonight to get me through. Long may it continue.
Some great performances tonight. Doucoure and Siggy were great, but fair play to Tom Davies, he bossed it. Hope he can crack on and prove some of this board wrong. Coleman was also brilliant. He makes a huge difference. Might have lost some pace, but his passing, movement and intelligent play should give him a few more seasons yet.

Re: Everton v Spuds
What a cracker! I actually thought we played really well apart from the glaring errors that led to their goals. Mind you, we would have been dead and buried in the first half hour if not for Olsen. Some outstanding performances - Siggi, Doucoure, Godfrey, Richie, and above all Tom Davies who looked the player we all hoped he’d become when he first came into the squad. And as for Seamus at right wing back - he’s like a new signing!
What a night. Would have been fucking miserable if we’d lost on pens though

I’d a bad nights sleep after that. I kept dreaming that Spurs had got another corner.

Will King be fit enough to have a go at the striker's job on Sunday?

Who needs King? We could start Richie as the striker, with Bernard or Iwobi left wing-back and Coleman right wing-back. I'd have Godfrey at right back, with Mina, Keane and Digne as the rest of the defence, stick with Davies and Doucoure in the middle, and Siggi off Richie. Olsen in goal again until he fucks up.

In fairness, they had 15 corners and only scored from about 13 of them, so it wasn't all bad.

Coleman is the new Ronaldo. Just moving further and further up the pitch until the rest of the kids start shouting "goalhanger" at him.
I predict that, despite banging in 33 league goals, Coleman's tendency to get caught offside over and over will be a major talking point next season. And there will be at least one disallowed goal because one of his squirrel cheeks was fractionally beyond the arse of the last defender. Analyse that, Jermaine Jenas.

Coleman will bring out his version of Loving You by Minnie Riperton. It will consist of a medley of yells to James, for a through ball.Rotterdam 1985 wrote:hairy cataract wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:Will King be fit enough to have a go at the striker's job on Sunday?

Despite last night, Bernard drives me bananas.
Play King.
